Which crew member gave Scarpa AIDS?

You always hear it was a "crew member" but does anybody know who exactly?

Now did this guy Paul die of AIDS too?

The blood supply was really bad in the late 70's early 80's. I had a friend who was in a terrible car accident and wound up with hep C. Also knew a guy who was involved in a big coke deal gone wrong. He got shot, lost a lot of blood and also got hep C.

The irony of fate is that Scarpa did not trust the hospital blood and asked each member of his crew to donate a little. Paul Mele was a bodybuilder and regularly used steroids and had got AIDS from an infected needle, but that he didn't know, so donated the blood, and Scarpa gets AIDS (I wonder if he used a condom when having sex with linda schiro after this incident?). So Scarpa Sr. told everyone that she had cancer and his son Greg Jr. took his place as capo.

I find it odd that as a body builder he would share needles. Its not like drug addicts that are desperate and have a "fuck it" attitude to life anyway. Why would he and his bodybuilding buddies feel the need to do that in the activity of body building.

Yea generally most steroid guys do it privately therefore they wouldn't share, but they were bad back then with not screening blood or I don't think they had the technology I'm not sure.

Honestly I think the dude was a druggie too.
