This is why, when you're not sure, you should put a question mark in the header wink smile .

You can probably put a question mark in the header and make a post. But I'm not sure.

No disrespect and I don't know where you're from. But it's not all that crazy. In my town alone there is 5 of same name. My dad me my great uncle and two cousins.
Big italian families all named there kids the same thing.

Perfect example: A lot of people (even the "researchers") get confused about Farby (the guy who was acting for Vince when he went away in '97). Farby died young a few years later.

Anyway, Farby's real name was Frank Serpico. His Father's name was also Frank Serpico, and his nickname was also Farby. His Father had a first cousin, also named Frank Serpico, also nicknamed Farby, and he had a son, also named Frank Serpico, also nicknamed Farby.

So you had two first cousins, and two second cousins, all named Frank Serpico, all nicknamed Farby, and all involved in the Genovese family. If you didn't know them, or of their family, it would be nearly impossible for an outsider to comprehend. The stupid Feds couldn't tell them apart for years. And that's not to mention the two Barneys wink.

Not that it's mutually exclusive to the Mafia. Like Cheech said, it happens in all Italian families. I hate to use a media reference, especially a movie. But it's like the wedding voiceover in "Goodfellas," with all of the Peters, Pauls, and Maries. It happens all the time. Italians are big on tradition, and naming kids after family members is a big tradition.

Toms River is heavily populated with Italians, it's not crazy at all that there are two Silvio Devita's in a city with a population of 100k with a lot of Italians.

Nothing beats George Foreman and his five sons named George. When one of them goes, even his brothers won't know which one it is

I am 100% WASP born and raised in NYC. Had no idea that many Italians had the same name from the same family. Lesson learned.

The obit says the gentleman who died was Mr. Silvio D. Devita. I think the Silvio who is "connected" is Silvio P. Devita as listed on the NJ casino Exclusion List. http://www.nj.gov/oag/ge/exclusion/devita_silvio.htm

The obit also says that the dead guy was originally from Livingston. Westside Silvio is from Sicily. And it's all moot because he's alive and well.

Yes, and different middle initials and different birth dates as well. Two different guys.

Off topic bust is there any CN activity in Maryland? I was reading on the old Gambino Baltimore crew but they're no longer active. I guess MD is just one of those places...

Historically speaking, how active was CN in MD? Even as far back as the 50s through 70s?

Yeah, it was two Italian guys who started the riots. They got in their Caddy, drove away, and laughed hysterically as they watched it mushroom from their hotel suite in Atlantic City whistle.

Lol, I think its safe to say he meant Baltimore.

I don't know anything personally but it's been talked about here before. I believe there is no CN activity to speak of.
