db cooper, I read his book, I saw the three hbo documentaries on him. I don't find him that credible on many of his hits, or on his alleged associates. I just have a hard time believing a lot of what the man says.

I think that quote is out of context. RK is speaking about the aftermath of some killing he did and the media coverage of it. Obviously we need a time frame to put into context his statement that he didn't know he was mob related.

It's possible he was not a hitman for the mob. It's possible he was just a hustler who operated with mob protection and killed people on the side as just a way of doing business and entertaining himself. All of his confirmed kills line up with that notion. If a wiseguy or associate's demise could be linked to Kuklinski, that would be different. But I don't think that's the case.

The only link he has to the mob is the Pete Calabro killing, which i personally find questionable. From everything i've read about it, it seems like the cops were trying to charge Pete with his wives murder so i don't really see the need for Sammy not to admit the killing. I imagine most will respond with he was a cop: dirty or not, but i think the timing of Kuklinskis claim to have killed Calabro on Sammy's order was suspicious. I'm certainly not a conspiracy theorist, but if i'm correct on the years (probably not) Kuklinski had been in jail well over a decade before mentioning the Calabro murder on HBO, something that wasn't talked about in the Carlo book and it was shortly after Gravano had bee arrested on the Arizona charges (again i may have the dates wrong).

If all i said there is correct i don't think it's a stretch to think that the FBI or whoever at least guided Kuklinski on his potential testimony before he died. I mean his claims of killing Hoffa,Favaro,Galante,etc, makes it clear that he was willing to say anything.

Even the Peter Calabro murder mystery is not a confirmed mafia related hit to my knowledge. Again, it would be different if Calabro was said to have offended or double crossed some Boss or made man. But that is not the case. He is only linked to his wife's disappearance. What proof do we have that the mob was concerned about that or even knew about that?

EDIT: Let me add this. When I think about how RK's daughter shook as if on the edge of a nervous breakdown in the courtroom where her father's dirty laundry was being aired, I can't help but suspect that the motive for RK lying and embellishing on his crime by fictitiously connecting them to the mob was because he was ashamed of his murders in the face of his family and that was his way of trying to dignify them (them killings). In other words "I'm not just a 2 bit hustler serial killer, but a high class mafia hitman who only killed bad people". He said on the documentaries that he regretted hurting his family and even teared up about that.

I wasn't saying there was a proven connection, i think you would have noticed that if you read my post. The only reason i mentioned it as a link to the mob was because Kuklinski was scheduled to testify about it shortly before he died.
