Scariest Mafiosos?

Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/03/13 07:00 PM

Who are some of the scariest Mafiosos--guys that even elicited fear from their fellow mobsters.

For example, the way very few, not even John Gotti, wanted to take on Roy DeMeo when the contract to kill DeMeo was being offered around?

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/03/13 07:07 PM

Sammy DeStefano.
The very first made guy Auippa/Cerone killed after Paul Ricca died. Dyno was crazy and had no fear of anyone. He enjoyed killing people.

Ricca & Giancana had to stop him from killing Bill Roemer the F.B.I. Agent. He would have tortured him first.

He killed his own brother Mario DeStefano. He belonged to Ricca/Giancana (Taylor St).

Tony merra and tommy karate are two names that come to mind, they fit the profile of serial killers rather than that of a mobster.

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/05/13 04:16 PM

I would say the Chicago guys during the Giancana and Aiuppa days. They had so many pyschotic torturers, I doubt anyone would want to take them on. Even Tony Spilotro thought Chuck Nicoletti was cold hearted for eating spaghetti while Billy McCarthy was getting his head crushed in a vice and his eyeballs popped out of his head. Mad Sam DeStefano used a carving knife to fillet one of his victims alive. The Action Jackson hit is legendary for the brutality.

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/06/13 10:57 PM

Delacroce was the scariest looking guy IMO, them eyes are just evil lol and his reputation of being a killer. Scary man.
Posted By: Skinny

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/06/13 11:19 PM

Tommy R, i meant Riccardi. Senior not junior. Flash is a SI/BK legend. On the record with Watts. But u cant mention those guys without saying joe bilotti too. Bronx knows more about those guys... Lots of tough guys. I could name two hundred. Bodybuilders, martial arts guys, psychos.... About a quarter of them are (or will be) rats/doing life. If not killed.

But as far as scaring the shit out of a guy. Johnny Marrone. Dead eyes. looks like that mug of tino, except brown eyes. empty, kinda shell shocked look. I cant really explain it well. Im sure dellacroce had them too, as do most guys who've done a ton of work. look at james holmes mugshot too. same thing.

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/06/13 11:24 PM

Thanks Skinny.

Ralph Salerno, i think from the NYPD organized crime unit years ago said the 2 guys who sent chills down his spine when he would look into their eyes were Carmine Galante and Neil Dellacroce.

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/06/13 11:28 PM

Don't know if this is true or not but a NYPD went up and questioned Dellacroce and said when he looked Neil in the eyes his spine started to shiver, the officer was shook up by the encounter.

Don't know if there's any truth to it but its online.

hey skinny what is the story/ status on Marrone? Edison guy but a player in middlesex/monmouth county area? what crew is he in or is a capo? im assuming a genovese one... he was just released right?

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/10/13 04:25 AM

Originally a newark or bergen co guy. A lot of those guys moved south. Workhorse of a guy. He was with Joe the indian polverino (sp) originally id say. That crew went to Sal Lombardi, i cant say for sure where he is today. If i had to guess id say under Palumbo or transfered to the old gerardo/dephillips/devita crew. Dont think hes very active now. Hes getting old, hes got legit money, but not a whole lot as i understand it. If hes got anything going its a little shy to guys he trusts.

Vito Genovese in pics of him when he was younger because he looked like Frankenstein lol. In general i'd agree with Sam Destefano though. I'm pretty sure this topic has been done before btw.

He and his brother Jimmy were very brutal. There is an old story out of Cicero of a lawyer who owed them a considerable amount of money. So they grabbed him off the streets and took him to the back of some pizza place or something in Cicero. They stripped him naked and tied him to the burning hot radiator and spent spent a day beating and torturing him. The lawyer was allowed to call his mother and when she appeared with the money owed plus interest, she was greeted to the sight of Jimmy urinating on her son. They were brutal guys...

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 07/17/13 04:05 PM

Why does it seem that anyone from Chicago are complete psychopaths, Destefano of course but than ,Fifi b, Giancana, Nicoletti, all of Taylor St., Lapitera brothers, , Turello,Spilotro, im probably forgetting a few, the common thing about these guys everyone seems to say is they were brutal and usually have torture stories amongst them. Than you got , Auippa, Lombardo,Calabrese who werent known as torturers but known to have killed alot of people and the Chicago Heights crew who are the least known but have been described as "rough", something must be in the pizza their lol

Dellacroce, No, You're thinking about a couple other guys who did the meat hook hanging.

Sammy was a torture specialist and enjoyed torturing and then killing people. Very dangerous man.

He was the first guy Auippa/Cerone killed after Paul Ricca died in 1972.

Thanks Sonny,
I think the Taylor St. Guys that did Action Jackson were FiFi Bucciere and Turk Torello.

Action Jackson was a Soldier/Associate who was a member of Torello's Juice Crew.

Torello belonged to Bucciere who was one of the two Capos within the huge extended Taylor St Power Crew.

Ironic thing was that Jackson was innocent. He was not an informer. This is what happens sometimes when a guy doesn't have strong support, especially a non made guy. He is almost powerless against a false accusation if his Bosses believe it.
Welcome to the real world of the Mafia.

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 08/08/13 02:56 AM

The crew (Taylor St) seems more or less to have been the administration of the family and therefore can you really look at them as a "Crew"? That's just how it seems to me I could be off by a mile.
Posted By: Chicago

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 08/08/13 03:11 AM

You're not off by a mile, but I will explain it.
The Administration was actually Ricca, Accardo & Giancana.

The power behind Giancana was the Taylor St Crew.
The made men in the Taylor St Crew were like first among equals compared to all the other made men because they were DIRECT with Mooney. They were all partnered with Mooney or were partnered with Battaglia or Bucciere AND Mooney.

However, the money from the other Crews still flowed upward to Mooney who shared with Ricca and Accardo in one way or another.
Make sense?
Posted By: bobbytran

Re: Scariest Mafiosos? - 08/08/13 03:21 AM

a lot of the Scarfo guys to were scary, they weren't anywhere near Taylor St. but they all were killers ready to kill whoever, whenever, in New York they would of just been a toned down version of the Demeo crew with Testa the made guy running it with Scarfo being the capo like Nino.

That is the funniest/awesomest saying I've heard in a long time. The Beatles of the mafia. That's great. Made me laugh like hell. But yes, you are right about the Taylor St. boys. They were huge around the same time as the Beatles too. Was a different time back then but they are unequaled by any other crew in the country at thst time or now. I think they beat the demeo crew as much as people want to hero worship this crew. The Taylor Street Crew rules the day. They are the boyz of the first day of America, not just nyc or chicago. They had em all beat for moneymaking ability and sheer ruthlessness for sure.
