Gennaro Angiulo's murder conviction

Gennaro Angiulo's murder conviction - 04/06/13 10:47 AM

In the book "The Underboss" by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill it's written that Angiulo got a life sentence for ordering the murder of Angelo Patrizzi who wanted to avenge his brother. But I read elsewhere his conviction was overturned, why do you think they never tried to re-charge him? I mean, the motive for the reversal was ridiculous, they said the fact that the jury was anonymous "hurt his constitutional rights" or something. Yeah, right, and what about the constitutional rights of the jurors, guess what would have happened to them if Jerry found out who they were and where they lived.

he got convicted in fed court got 45yrs, then the state court got him sentenced to life like scarfo and family in philly. guess the d.a.'s got some press and promotions but both guys and crew got there murder cases overturned. Gerry a. did like 23, 24 yrs at a old age but lived it out and his family still has tons of cash and property. he was running loanshrking right from his cell in fort devens half hour from his house with a bunch of other bosses. was anyone else charged in state court for the murder with Gerry.

Do state convictions against the mafia ever get upheld? It really seems prosecution is successful only in federal courts.

I've noticed that trend as well. Federal prosecutors just have more experience trying these types of cases in my opinion.

no victims ever get justice with anything mob/mafia related... the corruption shoulder rubbing is be going on for too long, they would have to prosecute thousands of people in OC states.... massachusetts is just a fine example as to how the local cops/ FBI associate with criminals and gangsters on a daily basis.... its sad but its all about who you know... and you dont want piss of the wrong people when there in power etc... UNITED STATES OF CORRUPTION!!!

Kind of off topic but does anyone know if it's true that Gerry Anguilo bailed out a whole jail back in the day? Any info on that story would be appreciated

Not sure about that one, but another one I heard from a friend who is a prison guard in MA was that a black inmate sucker punched Angiulo once. Shortly thereafter, someone mysteriously posts bail for the guy. He then ends up in the trunk of a car. Maybe just legend, but that's the story I heard from someone who knows more than me.

Thanks but I've read the underboss along with almost every book on the history of Bostons underworld except for vinnie Teresa's cause it's supposedly full of shit lol. I was just wondering if anyone might have some stories that weren't in the books.

Ah so it was a whole unit. Crazy shit. My cousins went to swampscott high back in the day and said one of Angiulos nephews had problems with a kid and showed up to school in a hearse one day to make his point lol. All things aside though Gerry Angiulo seemed to be incredibly far ahead of his time business wise.
