I was didn't pay attention when he went on the LAM probably because I was too young but I saw he had to resign from the University Of Mass for having contact with his brother .... How much heat was put on william (bill) Bulger I just read a little bit about him he has 33 grandchildren thats enough people to start a borgota

i remember reaeding about him. the bro was a politician and was had a very senior role with the uni. he was found to have had contact with whitey without reporting it and he was made to resign due to this. very interesting stuff.

He was Senate President in Mass.for 18 years. From mid seventies until mid nineties. Then went to UMass Boston as the president. Congress had a hearing questioned him on his involvement with Whitey. He plead the 5th on almost all questions. there was a lot of evidence of him helping Whitey while he was on the run but Billy never admitted to it. He took a lot of heat and resigned from UMass. He was allowed to keep his pension. He gets 198k a year. No doubt Whitey and Billy ruled Boston in those days. A lot of the Winter Hill guys of old have family members still on the state payroll with jobs in the courts and other public service. All that was from Billy. He still lives in southie.

Thanks for the info. It makes sense. Speaking of Whitey I know I can do a google search but for posters from the Boston area has there been any press coverage of that trial..I would think his defense team would need a lot of time to go threw the discovery

Dap has a bunch of articles regarding whitey on his site. I grew up in Quincy, I was a little young myself when this whole thing was going on. There's no way in hell bill had any connections with OC at all, he's an honest guy. But when your brother is an Irish mafia boss who killed more people than fingers on your hand you have to tread carefully. I think he honestly still cared about whitey despite him being who he was, but even a simple phone call was enough to force him out.

Up to know the press has mostly covered all the pre-trial legal wrangling that has taken place. I think the defense said they got something like 450,000 pages of documents from the state...
