What if Angelo Bruno was never hit?

What if Angelo Bruno was never hit? - 02/16/13 08:38 PM

Would it be a safe bet to say that the Philly Family saw its best days when Bruno was in charge?
It seems like ever since he took a shotgun blast, things have not been the same for a once solid, strong mafia family.
Turncoats, snitches, and wars within the family has the been the identity for 3 decades now.
What if Bruno was never hit,how do you think the family would fare today?

They would have more power and manpower. Nicodemo killed tons of people in the 80s who could've still been around today like Testa. Killing Bruno pretty much ruined Philadelphia

Of the remaining families that are left, they are minor. You've got 2 large families and 3 mid-sized families in New York, and then 4 or 5 small families (Philly being one of them) elsewhere.

Even if Bruno hadn't been killed he would've been put away. Same with Testa and all the other guys that could've lead Philly smoothly. It's possible they might not have been as dysfunctional as they are right now, but there's no way they would've survived all the RICO and LE hits that have severely limited their power.

I read that Bruno and Big Paul were very tight and surveillance caught them on more than one occasion having dinner together.

At this same time period Bruno was on the commission and it pissed others off that he almost never showed up for a meeting and simply gave his vote to Castellano to cast on any issues that were being discussed..

Castellano and Bruno met a couple times at the Gambino's restaurant in South Jersey. John Gambino came down from NY with Castellano at least one of the 2 times. His brothers Rosario and Giuseppe owned the restaurant in Cherry Hill where they all met.

Yes....Long John was friends with the Gambino brothers too. He lived in the same south jersey neighborhood that they did. Martorano and Bruno got all the vending business from the Gambino's restaurants and pizza joints. And the Gambino's also gave Bruno a piece of their club as tribute.

Your correct DickNose....that club in Cherry Hill is where they ran their south jersey/philly heroin operation out of. They also had a club up in Brooklyn on 18th ave where i believe John Gambino worked out of and was probably the drug networks main place of operation.
