New Orleans mob locations?

New Orleans mob locations? - 01/15/13 02:58 PM

Headed to New Orleans this weekend and was wondering if there are any old mob haunts to visit down there. I know the family is defunct but I'd be interested to see any bars, clubs, restaurants, etc...that were ever run or frequented by Marcello's crew. The only place I've found so far is a restaurant called Mosca's on the outskirts of New Orleans which apparently was a favorite of Carlos Marcello.

Being from the South and spending many summer months in New Orleans with my dad I had the honor, and I mean honor of meeting Carlos Marcello.I met him at the Keyhole Bar and Grille. He spoke in a verystrong cajun accent. He owned a home in Grand Isle that you may be able to see.Although I lost all contact with the city after Katrina.I believe this home that Marcello owned may have been destroyed as well.Just a very powerful man and he owned quite a few places throughout the city and some remain.Just ask around. It is indeed an interesting part of the citys history. He was laidback as they come but I am sure he fed many a gator

The New York and Chicago guys get most of the attention when talking about LCN and people forget about the southern bosses Marcello and Trafficante. Those two were pretty powerful in their own right. The feds new about em though, and went as far as dumping Marcello off in Guatemala to try and get rid of him!

I can assure you that no serious mob buff has forgotten Marcello or Trafficante. Not on this board, anyway. They were an integral part of The Commission when it was still intact. Both of them powerhouses. If those families don't get much coverage today it's only because they barely exist at this point.

@ Jenkins,I am not intending to come off as knowing anyone in the mob or Carlos Marcello. There are many who lived or spent time in New Orleans that have met him.My meeting him is what began my curiousity with the mafia.People dont really think of the South when talking Mafia. But the New Orleans family is the oldest in America and yes Marcello and Trafficante were absolutely two of the most powerful bosses ever.Marcello started out as just a "rascal" if you will selling small amounts of pot.He had a sign that read,"3 people can keep a secret if 2 are dead" in his office.I always loved that

@ TommyKarate,Again,I lost all contact with the city after Katrina when my dad was wiped out in St Bernard parish.Marcello's office was in Jefferson Parish in a bbar called Willswood Tavern. It was also a Town and Country Inn.He owned alot of swampland the bordered the Tavern.I have no idea what remains today.I do know it was there prior Katrina.I think this is what you are talking about.
