30 years for Roy

30 years for Roy - 01/10/13 09:51 PM

Ladies and gentleman, it's 30 years to the day since Roy Demeo was whacked by Anthony Senter and Joey Testa. 30 years ago the dynasty of the meanest and most feared crew in New York ended.

Any thoughts?

When you "laugh out loud" after every sentence, it's not exactly a dry sense of humor.

Despite Roy being a terrible human being, he didn't deserve to be whacked. I would have preferred him to be in jail.

Didnt deserve to be whacked? Are you serious. This was a man who killed at least 100 people and many of them were regular people not involved in the mob. In 79 he killed an 18 year old kid who was working his way through college selling vacuum cleaners. before he killed him he chased him and probably scared the kid to death before he put seven bullets in him. Yeah he is a saint.

Well most civilised people don't believe in murder. Although what happened to Roy can be deemed as 'street justice', wouldn't it have been better to have him prosecuted and be left to rot in jail?

Better for the victims families as Roy would have been paying penance rotting in jail all these years.
But not better for Roy himself who ended up having the last laugh, where-ever Roy is now, he is laughing at Joey and Anthony who have been banged up since about 1989!

That's one of the GREATEST "dry humor" or "deadpan" type of lines in the history of the sitcom. I use it all the time lol.

LOLOLOL, Elaine and Puddy. Seinfeld was a great show, one of the best ever. That cast really clicked together and don't forget Larry David who had a lot to do with the shows success. David's show Curb Your Enthusiasm is right up there with Seinfeld IMHO.

More than a lot. The show wasn't the same after Larry left. From a creative/writing standpoint, it was Larry David and Larry Charles, as well as Jerry Seinfeld, that really made the show go early on.

Absolutely Ivy, i agree 100%. I really never gave David his due until after he left Seinfeld and then later when i started watching Curb. Then it was obvious to me that the guy is a comedy writing genius.

That's the thing. Until "Curb," you never had a clue how much of "Seinfeld" actually came from Larry's point of view.

Re: 30 years for Roy - 01/20/13 04:27 AM

HBO or AMC seriously need to get a tv series about these guys,I mean goodfellas & casino are good but you need that 10-12 hours of tv to really portray these books,3hrs is to short to do it,they should also make the westies too and use the same actors in each series to show up at different plot points. Make it happen gangsterbb I know u got the contacts smile

There are those that get accustomed to prison. Wasn't one of the Gemini twins part of the team that killed the wrong Nicky Guido for Casso? I swore I read that somewhere, I think it was the Tommy Dades book...
