The Midwest - 12/02/12 04:43 AM

I know the mafia has a strong presence in Detroit, but I was curious to know if they are planted in other Midwest states. Like Minnesota, Wisconson etc and which family's? Thanks.

Not drug distribution, but gambling. Pittsburgh guys were involved in the On Leong fiasco

Michael James Genovese became involved drug distribution in the Midwest and Northeast during the 1980s and 1990s so I believe they still have drugs in that either because Genovese made his own territory in the Midwest.

This all came out in the Chucky Porter trial in 1990, Pittsburgh's underboss. It was Porter and Henry Zottola who had the agreement in place with Chicago.

Milwaukee was big when Frank Balistrieri was boss and there was a crew in Madison, WI. Believe it or not, Des Moines, Iowa had a large illegal gambling operation as well.

Fratto died in the 60's of Cancer, but was very tight with Accardo and some of the brass in Chicago. I'll send a great article.
