Remember that episode on the Sopranos when Richie Aprile decides that he wants to move against Tony cause Tony said "You can't deal blow on my garbage routes anymore that are associated with Barone Sanitation."

Does this happen in real life ?

For Richie that was just the tip of the iceberg. Tony siding with Beansie (a civilian) made mathers worse. To answer your question: No it's not common for a capo to move on his own boss over shit like that (orders).
