Frank Cali - 09/21/12 01:20 AM

Might be a dumb question, but I'm asking the experts because I've been getting different opinions from people.
Is Frank Cali merely a solider in Jackie D'Amico's crew or is he a capo?

Re: Frank Cali - 09/21/12 12:37 PM

Im not an expert but all i know that he was a soldier in 97/98
and after that he was a fast rising star and became an acting capo and got arrested in 2008 or 09 i think...thats all i know

Caramela is probably the best source for this question. I'd defer to her.

No offense, Jimmy, but you shouldn't put her on the spot like that. When you don't know anyone in real life, these Internet posts are all fun and games. But when you've known these people all your life, you have to choose your posts carefully.

Again, no offense, Jimmy. All I'm saying is, if she wants to chime in, that's up to her wink smile.

I am a person!! My name is Carmela. I am not a piece of sugary sweet candy meant to bring pleasure to your mouth!!

Cali' is a capo. But I think it wasn't until early 2000's that he was promoted as such.

If Cefalu does't give Jackie an administration position, what happens to him? If he gets his crew back, then Cali would have been acting capo. If Cali is official capo, where does that leave Jackie? Just a high ranking member with no crew?

Jackie is pushing 80, he might just want to lay low but who knows. I imagine Cali is prob official and Jackie would be his mentor just like when he took Cali under his wing.

Yeah just before Christmas Nicky. But I've heard Cali is a major player in the Gambino Family. He owns a lot of legitimate buisnesses in addition to the illegal stuff.

I doubt it sorry for bringing age into it again but he's nearly 80 years old also he supposedly cried at his 06 trial so after serving 6 years on top of the time he'd already served before i can see him retiring who knows but.

Maybe it was i still don't see a reason for him to continue after he's released though unless he's broke which i doubt but again you never know with these guys.

Re: Frank Cali - 09/22/12 05:49 PM

Jackie's a spender. Always has been. He likes to live the life and he loves to gamble. If he needs money, you can bet he'll hit the street again in some fashion. Maybe not balls to the wall, but enough to support his habits.

As far as an old man crying in court?

Come on, guys. I know some of you guys are very young, but it ain't the first time and it won't be the last. Greg DePalma cried a like a baby in court when he was acquitted in the Nicky LaSorsa murder conspiracy. Greg came out, unshelved himself, and even got his stripes back (only to fuck up again, but that's not the point here).

Re: Frank Cali - 09/22/12 05:52 PM

It's possible that Cefalu has already named a new Underboss and Consigliere. I can't honestly say what'll happen to Squitieri when he gets out. It's perfectly plausible he'd take back his role of Undeross, but equally so he'd just retire or remain an advisor. Either way I think Cali is a capo now

Regardless. My point was that crying in court won't affect whether or not a guy retires when he comes out. If you think it's a matter of "respect," he can always say it was an act in hopes of getting leniency.

Now I'm the first guy to say that alive doesn't always mean active, but if these these guys are in good health and younger than, say, 80, they'll probably take a shot if they need the money. I doubt Squitieri needs the money. Jackie might.

Pizza boy you think Jackie's in charge of a crew again? also do you think Dom's named a new Underboss or has Zeke held on to the position?

I wasn't talking about respect all i was saying is that might've been an indication of him not wanting to continue again though i don't have a clue what he'll do maybe he'll continue but as you said i don't think he needs the money .

Why are you asking him this? You're guess is as good as his.

Re: Frank Cali - 09/22/12 06:21 PM

I think Jackie will be treated with kid gloves when he comes out. If the crew is still his, it's probably in "name only."

Frank is 47 years old. It's not like he needs a mentor anymore. This ain't Michael and Vito in the garden we're talking about here. Besides, the truth is, Frank Cali is smarter on a Tuesday night than Jackie D'Amico is all week long. True story wink.

Jackie is very well liked (especially for an old Gotti crony). He can work as hard as he wants when he comes out. Or he can probably just quit. It's his choice. Money will probably dictate his decision.

As far as Dom and Zeke? Let's just say they make a VERY formidable team wink.

I asked because perhaps he knows a little more than I do. I live in Massachusetts, where besides Boston there's no mob activity at all. Those who live by the action might have more knowledge on it.

I know this much: The guess of a 53 year old Italian American guy who's been around these guys all his life is a lot better than the guess of a teenage kid from fucking Scotland. But whatever.

I just meant when he hits the street. He came out in June, right? It's not like he's gonna dive right back in.
