Atlantic City? Who has a stake in it?

I recall that before gambling was legalized there, Philadelphia had purview over it. There was even an anecdote of Bruno banishing guys to Atlantic CIty when they ebcame too troublesome as punishment.

But after Bruno's death and during the eve of gambling legalization in teh area, it was said that the Gambino and Genovese crew were moving in. However, I can't seem to find anything substantial. Who had control of it from then till now? Is it an "open city"?

Nicky Scarfo ran operations there and he was earning scraps before gambling became legalised. Atlantic City was/is an open city like Las Vegas. did the Decavalcantes have operations there?

I always thought they were more North Jersey. Not too sure. So if it's an "open city" who all is down their earning a lick? And since when?

They way I understand it Atlantic City fel under the influence of the Philly family. Other mobsters and families needed permission to operate there.

the philly, genovese, and gambino families seem to have the most influence with the decalvacantes and the other families maybe having a few things going on. lots of street level stuff though i would imagine, nothing big like vegas back in the day. theres gotta be plenty of loansharks, same as anywhere that gambling is big. definatly sports betting, as that borgata case showed a few years ago. maybe a little bit of drugs and prostitution on the side.

Is there still a faction of the Decavalcante Family that survives/thrives in modern day operations?

I'm sure Anastasia said that Atlantic City was an Open City In blood and honour, Sonny. And prostitution Five Felonies? Pretty sure thats a racket which has been a passe for the mob and if new york do have small operations of prostitution then Philly I think almost won't have prostitution rackets

maybe i should have been a little more clear regarding prostitution. when most people think prostitution they think street hookers, and while atlantic city certainly has it fair share of them, i'm talking more of the high end escort service variety. everyone pretty much knows these companies are fronts for prostitution, so the people running them are generally not the most upstanding members of society. whether or not the mob run a few of these companies, i have no clue but it wouldn't surprise me. regardless as we know a type of buisiness like that is much more prone to pay a street tax than a dry cleaner or something along those lines so one way or another the mob takes a cut.

oh, so your saying as in organised crime generally in Atlantic City?

Well if Anastasia says so then it probably is. I haven't read Blood and Honor yet but it's on my list.

Scarfo had control over it but not for long because the whole upper echelon of his organization went down. When he became boss he worked something out with the Genovese Family so they could have a piece of AC too. At the height of its boom there was enough money for everyone to go around. Even now or at least before the summer PA was beating AC in Casino Revenue. I'm pretty sure the Russians run the prostitution down there. I don't think a lot of people want to live down the Jersey Shore year around.

There hasn't been much dough to make in AC since the 90s, there are casinos everywhere now.

According to Ivy league after the NY families the only other viable families are Chicago,Patriarca,Philly and Decalvacante so i guess so.

But Decavalcantes I think do not really have any major operations.

The Decavalcantes don't have any interest in Vegas that's for sure. The only time they may have had some influence down there was when Sam "The Plumber" was boss.

After the big indictment 10-12 years ago, a few of them would be lucky to get a part-time acting gig for boardwalk empire ( Street Merchant) (Guy standing in back ground)

Then again I think everyone flipped except for one of the old-timers so there probably all milking our tax dollars

Being a plumber the NY Famlies knew this guy would never talk, even though some saw him crack,,,,

Philadelphia mob turncoat, George Freselone, talked about how Scarfo made a deal with the New York families in which they would do much of the work on the initial construction of the hotels and casinos, and he would control HEREU Local 54. That ended up being primarily the situation, though a few of Scarfo's companies did do some of the construction and the Genovese family would later share some influence over Local 54 with Scarfo. Beyond that, there was supposedly the New York families - mainly the Genovese and Gambinos - getting involved in some of the ancillary businesses connected to the casinos. I also remember reading somewhere the Bonannos were involved with junkets to Atlantic City.

A.C. is only Philly ,have not seen anyone from any fan but them in years
