And while we´re on the subject, Joe Valachi was not the first turncoat in US Mafia history.
In the early 1920s (if memory serves me right), Ralph Daniello´s corraboration with police helped solve several murders.
Daniello was a member of a Camorra gang in Brooklyn though (not a Mafia member).
And also in the early 1920s, Bartolomeo Fontano blew the whistle on a gang dubbed (by the media at the time) "The Good Killers". This gang seems to have been part of the early Bonanno Family and included mafiosi Stefano Magaddino (later boss in Buffalo), Bartolomeo DiGregorio, Mariano Galante, Vito Bonventre, Giuseppe Lombardi and Francesco Puma.

First name was "Lenine", and he was just a soldier (but a very powerful one).

Thanks for the corrections. I don't know if Ricciardi was ever a captain. Obviously he was in the Lucchese family's Jersey crew and Accetturo and Taccetta were the captains during that time, I believe.

I always thought Ricciardi was a Soldier but in the Manhattan Mob Rampage documentary they said he was a Capo. I'm not sure which is right. Like DD said, he may have been an acting Capo.

There was a spot "open" in 1985 when Accetturo was indicted for credit card and wire fraud. It is possible that Ricciardi functioned as the acting capo during that time.

There were actually two known Tommy Ricciardis involved with the New York/New Jersey Mafia. The other one moved to Los Angeles after the Gallo/Profaci war and became made in that Family.
Strangely enough, he was put under capo Mike Rizzi (another former New Yorker and former Gallo gang member who had fled New York). During the war, Rizzi had shot but only wounded Ricciardi. However, they seem to have gotten along pretty well while in LA.

Did Stanfa make Phil Colletti? You woulda thought so with all the bums he made. At least he had an Italian last name ha. We could put him on here if he is made. Well Henry Hill wasn't either so I guess we can put Phil on here. I think there may be others from philly....gotta think.

Did Michael Franzese actually ever testify in a trial/grand jury or actually give information to the FBI on other mobsters? I know he has been on a handful of TV shows and documentaries about the mob, but every time he says that he just simply left the life. I can't remember which documentary/show it was, but in one he made it a point to say that he never ratted on his friends. He says he just plead guilty and then left the life after he was released from prison. But, considering the minimal amount of time he did in prison (I think less than 10 years), you would have to imagine he gave the FBI some sort of information.

It may have even been in the same documentary, he said that if he would have stuck it out he could have been boss once Persico went away for life. I don't know if that was his own opinion or that other guys shared that opinion, but with the amount of money he was making on the gas tax scam alone, I would think he had to have some sort of power within the family.

Not to glorify criminals, but out of all the American mobsters, I always thought that he seemed to be one of the most likeable.

Franseze gave evidence in front of a grand jury on the gas tax scam , he didn't testify against any mobsters in the 5 New York families

with all those rats you can start up a new family.. with massino as boss with the bull as underboss and so on..
