Old school New England Mafioso - 12/06/11 06:44 PM

Not much is out there or known about guys like Larry Zannino, JR Russo or Sammy Granito. Guys like these were major figures in the Boston underworld for decades. Anyone have any insight on them or links to any information other than Wikipedia lol

Someone posted a documentary a week or two ago from the 80s which mentioned those guys a bit.

Ilario ZANNINO

Birth Date: 15 Jun 1920
Death Date: 15 Mar 1996
Social Security Number: 029-30-0722
State or Territory Where Number Was Issued: Massachusetts

Death Residence Localities
ZIP Code: 01907
Localities: Swampscott, Essex, Massachusetts

His nickname was Larry Baiona, according to turncoat Vinny Teresa. In the 70s he was convicted on jewel thievery and was also charged for participation in a 1965 murder. But I believe he was freed on that.
In the 80s, Zannino rose to the rank of a consigliere but in 1987 he was sentenced to 30 years in prison for running a gambling ring and for extortion.
It´s kinda funny, but Zannino apologized to the jury before he was sentenced. Why?
He had during the trial declared out loud that he hoped each of them would die as soon as possible, if they find him guilty!
