Call it the penile code.
Bonanno crime boss Vincent (Vinny Gorgeous) Basciano and his cronies were discussing their legal woes when the talk turned to a more sensitive area.
"I wish you would tell me some good news," Basciano said during a secretly recorded conversation in January 2004. "Make my d--- 3 inches taller or 2 inches longer, bro."
Former capo James Tartaglione, whose nickname is Big Louie, had a ready suggestion for the boss. "A guy in Florida had an extension put on his d---," he said.
Basciano was curious how big, but Tartaglione had no idea.
Then former underboss Anthony Urso chipped in his two cents. "Also they got a pump," he said, adding that 69-year-old soldier Louis Restivo "was gonna get that."
"Louis can't get [an erection]?" Basciano asked.
"No, he got sugar diabetes," Urso explained. "When you got sugar diabetes you can't get [an erection]."
In an earlier conversation, the wiseguys waxed about their marital problems. In a discussion worthy of "Oprah," Tartaglione asked Basciano if he was still on the outs with his wife.
"She loves me, but she hates me," Basciano said. "She's crazy about me, I'm crazy about her."
Basciano is being retried for the 2001 slaying of a Bronx man who threatened to kidnap his son. The last trial ended in a hung jury on the murder count.
