In 1931, mobster Al Capone was convicted of income tax evasion. (Sentenced to 11 years in prison, Capone was released in 1939.)

The irony, according to his biographers, is that he could have settled with the IRS earlier and avoided a trial and prison time. Also, though he had tons of lawyers, few were competent. One of the competent ones was the guy who could have arranged a plea bargain and fine. Capone stiffed him. :rolleyes:
