New Gambino boss - 12/27/05 08:24 PM

I just got yesterdays Daily news, and on the front page they talk about the new Gambino boss. It says that John D;Amico is the new acting boss of the family. It also lists the other four families, boss and acting bosses or the last official boss. It lists the following as the current acting bosses.

Genovese Family - Dominick "Quiet Dom" Cirillo
Bonanno Family - Michael "Mikey Nose" Mancuso
Colombo Family - Joel "Joe Waverly" Cacace
Luchese Family - Joseph Caridi
Gambino Family - John "Jackie Nose" D'Amico

Cirillo(76)is in jail awaiting sentancing for extortion.
Cacace(64) is serving 20 years for ordering a murder.
Caridi(57) is serving 8 years for extortion.

I'll type up the rest later, if anyone can find it on the daily news website, post it if you can.

MEET THE NEW JOHN GOTTI.
John (Jackie Nose) D'Amico, the Dapper Don's longtime sidekick and confidant, has emerged as the new acting boss of the Gambino crime family, law enforcement officals told the Daily News.

D'Amico, known as a dapper dresser himself with a gift for gab and a way with the ladies, even confirmed to The News that he was a "boss."
Well, sort of.

"I'm the boss of my house and my bathroom," said D'Amico, 69. "When i go in my house and my bathroom and close the door, I'm the boss."

The comment sounds like a tribute to something his dear friend John Gotti often said to reporters: "I'm the boss of my family, my wife and kids."

It was a line D'Amico probably hears a thousand times as the Dapper Don's constant companion on the town and in court.

But despite his common-man self-portrayal, law enforcement authorities say D'Amico is the new Don.

"It's apparent from a number of directions that JAckie is the street boss right now," one source said. "He is speaking with authority. He's not the same person from eight months ago."

D'Amico, known more as a lover than a fighter, may not have had the respect in the past of tough guys in the crime family, but his skills of diplomacy are needed now more than muscle is.

"He's a very personable individual," said Bruce Mouw, the retired head of the FBI's Gambino squad. "He can be a diplomat, a mediator. He's not a hard-liner. They need someone to rally people together."

Law enforcement sources say that after Gotti was convicted in 1992 and sent away for life, a ruling panel consisting of D'Amico and fellow Gambino capos Peter Gotti and Nicholas (Little Nick) Corrozo was designated to assis the Dapper Don's son John A. (Juniour) Gotti in running the crime family.

When Junior Gotti and D'Amico were pinched on racketeering charges in 1998, Peter Gotti, the Dapper Don's brother, became boss. Fast-forward to the present, with the beleagered crime family beset by leadership woes.

I never liked the title "acting boss" plain and simple, I wanna know the names of official bosses, now The Chin is dead, who is the official boss? Mario Gigante or Dominick Cirillo?
If D`Amico is an "acting boss"(I hate it) who is the official boss of the Gambino Family?
Who is the Official boss in the Bonanno Family?

Finally! A Don of the Gambino family that isnt A Gotti!
Every Gotti that was A Don has made A mockery of the Gambino family.

As far as my knowledge serves, and maybe turnbull can correct me, but the acting boss is the official boss now. They consider them acting bosses because the real boss is either in prison or died, so they havent been formally promoted. If you want to term the last "official" boss for the Colombo, Bonanno, Genovese and Luchese families, its listed as followed.

Genovese family - Vincent "chin" Gigante
Colombo family - Carmine "The Snake" Perisco
Luchese family - Louis "Louie Bagels" Daidone
Bonanno family - Joseph Massino

Carmine's son Alphonse "Allie Boy" Perisco became acting boss when Carmine went to prison. He to is also in prison now.

Massino was the boss until he turned rat. Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano succeded him as acting boss until he went to jail.

Daidone was succeded by Steven Crea as acting boss, who was jailed.

No, your thinking of New Jersey's acting boss John "Johnny Boy" D'Amato, who was clipped because he was gay, or so the story goes.

That should give a little information on it.

Thank you very much, although I would change The Chin from Bonanno to Genovese and Massino from Genovese to Bonanno

On a Dutch forum someone is posting about the 5 families. He has read a study of an University about these NY families. In that study all bosses/underbosses/consiglieri/acting boss etc. are mentioned. When he has posted the complete study (127 pages summary of a bigger study!) I'll translate the parts with are very useful in this topic.
