'GoodFellas' inspiration charged with drug possession

NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska (AP) -- Former mobster-turned-chef Henry Hill, whose gangland experiences inspired the movie "GoodFellas," has been charged with felony drug possession.

Police said Hill's luggage was searched on August 15 at the North Platte Regional Airport and methamphetamine and cocaine was found.

On Friday, Lincoln County Judge Kent Florum sent him to district court on a felony charge of drug possession.

Hill, portrayed by Ray Liotta in "GoodFellas," had sought refuge in the witness protection program after agreeing to testify against his former mob bosses from New York.

However, he left the witness protection program and now lives in North Platte with his wife, who is from the area. He has been working as a chef and helping establish an Italian restaurant.

Hill also wrote "The Wiseguy Cookbook," released in 2002.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Hill said he had been addicted to the mobster lifestyle.

"But you overcome it I think. I mean, you succeed," he said.

Speaking of which, did anyone hear about when or if Goodfellas 2 would be made?

Ya, I heard the planned release date for GOODFELLAS 2 is NEVER.

That's what I figured. I just remember hearing about how he wrote another book (or was going to write another book) about where the movie left off

If Goodfellas 2 and Taxi Driver 2 are made then I'll kill myself.

I don't see how much more could be said in a sequel. He was in the Witness Protection Program, got kicked out, and is a drunk. When he wants people to feel sorry for him, he gets liquored up and calls the Howard Stern Show.

I saw him on one of those local cable channel programs last year. I think the show was repeated again a couple weeks ago. He looked coked up or something on that show. He talks real fast and you can barely understand 3 words he says. He looks too weird in real life. Ray Liotta did him a favor by playing him on the show. Otherwise, the movie would have creeped me out.

I wonder why in the movie he had daughters but in real life they had a son.

Well in Goodfellas herny talks about how much he loved the life and how good it was, so, why not go back. I heard Jimmy was geting out of jail soon is that true?

Jimmy has been dead for several years now. He already got out.

You would think after GOODFELLAS and what the guy went through , he would've stopped ! Oh well, he is a scumbag. :rolleyes:
