biggest baddest thug...ever - 10/05/02 03:44 PM
has there ever been a topic here about who we/you think is the most notorious real-life mobster in history?
Capone? Gotti? Gambino? Genovese? Masseria? Anastasia?
Personally, I always think of Lucky Luciano as the biggest baddest thug. What's your opinion?

Hi,
I would go with Albert Anastasia(Murder Incorporated).

I'd also have to go with Luciano. He was always one step in front of his enemies(e.g Maranzano) and even made a deal with the U.S. army. Capone would be a very close second.

I would go with the Mad Hatter or Capone on this one.

Hi,
He might not be the biggest but Tony "The Ant" Spilotro should be included because he is one of the baddest.

I remember being a little bit shocked when I first heard of Roy DeMeo and his killing crew for Castellano. That was nasty!

Dutch Schultz, never feared anyone, and he over 129 murders under his belt. I'd say he was the most notorious.

I always thought Al Capone's territory was in Chicago! Btw, what cities did the mob control? Was it mostly NY and Chicago?

Capone was from Brooklyn, but was in control of Chicago. He was not as nationally powerfull as his legend would lead one to believe.
The mob controlled each and all of the major cities. New York and Chicago are just the most famous names - Capone, Giancana, Accardo, Gambino, Profaci, etc..

MurderInc.Com there's a very clear overview on the New York families, I think it was this site that also had links to all other major mob cities in the US (not just NY and Chicago!)
