Would you give up your job right now to be in the Mafia?

Re: Would you? - 06/28/02 08:01 AM

I ticked the third option 'cuz I've just finished a job this month, so if "they" offer me a new one, well, who knows, we gotta talk about it and see if we can make a deal...

As fascinated as I am with it...

1. It's nothing anymore.
2. The mafia has lost almost all of what it has been on.
3. I want to live past 40.

I used to want to be when I was younger, but then you grow up and see what it's truly about. I like the money and power element but it wouldn't be enough to drag me to a life of crime. I really believe Robert Deniros words in A Bronx Tale "The working man is the tough guy" and other lines asking whether the mob guys get up everyday for work.

I'm a tough guy.

Sorry if this poll was dumb.. I am new to this and I just started learning about the Mafia.. I wouldn't join it but I do want to be powerful and wealthy... Oh well that is dreaming... I think I want to be a Hotel Manager when i'm older...

I voted yes. For the simple reason it would allow me to follow a dream.

Iceman,

If I'm not prying, are you saying your lifelong dream would be to be in the "mob." If so, in what capacity are we talking????

I understand the excitement and attraction to it. Heck none of us would be here if we didn't feel it too. In other words, I guess, what exactly is the attraction for you that it would be your dream. (If that is what you are saying) I apoligize if I am getting too personal and you don't want to talk about it!!! But you mentioned it!!!!

Yes I'm saying my lifelong dream would be to be in the MOB. In what capacity, well a Hitman/enforcer.

I dunno, IceMan...I think maybe you're just feeling what a lot of dudes feel when a war breaks out. You know, it seems exciting, romantic, patriotic, etc. But then, after they donn the fatigues and get out there in the midst of a firefight, they start to see there's really no "glory" to war...just a lot of spilled blood, injustices, incompetence, loss of good friends, and just generally loss of life. I know it ain't the same thing, but I believe the "before & after" sentiments would hold true.

Well I know where you're coming from Snake. But believe me what you said doesn't apply to me. It wouldn't bother me to kill someone I know that sounds very cold hearted, but it's the truth.

Re: Would you? - 06/29/02 02:22 PM

Now you're scaring me, dude! The only type of person I think I could whack would be, say, some pervert or nut who hurt my kids. Okay, maybe some of those on death row, I'd gladly throw the switch myself (or should I say, inject the needle?). I.e., I might could summon the callousness or courage to do away with serious criminal vermin...and even saying that, I can't be sure I could, when push comes to shove. Naturally, I could during a real war. But to whack some stranger--maybe even my best friend--just because a "boss" tells me to? Can't do it, man.

Re: Would you? - 06/29/02 03:52 PM

Iceman I'm a bit shocked I must admit
I think tho you wouldn't really do anything like that maybe only under the circumstances Snake outlined. You sound too intelligent to go that route.

I honestly believe I could do that.

But I'll never find out, for sure.

Re: Would you? - 06/29/02 10:08 PM

i dont' but i too believe i could do that if the boss believes he should get killed then he must have given a reason, and if so then he should be if he hadn't given one i wouldn't i'd try to figure out away to have him get away.

Re: Would you? - 06/29/02 10:10 PM

needless to say i'd join as it would allow me to fulfil a dream i've always had like The Iceman i would join it if we lived in the 20's to 40's but not now.

Re: Would you? - 06/29/02 10:16 PM

What if the reason the boss gave you wasn't reason enough for you???? If you don't do it, you're the next "hit."

I am probably just a "wimpy" woman, but the only way I could ever kill anyone is to protect my family or myself!
Then again, if you saw me, you would laugh, because I am of small stature and wouldn't appear threatening to anyone!!! I guess I just need to "talk tough" to make up for being "vertically challenged." My bad?????

Re: Would you? - 06/29/02 10:22 PM

well Annt i'd tell my friend to get away or somethign or if need be i'd try to whack the boss and i know i'd prob be the next killed but if the reason wasn't good enough i don't think the boss would have him killed unless he was someone very stupid killing a member for some petty thing and if he was so stupid he one woudln't be the boss and two i wouldn't work for him. Annt Pacino is short as well but could scare the shit out of anyone with those eyes. There is this lady who goes to my tai chi classes(Italian might i add S'ern Italian who is like 4'10" but could def hold her own i think even though i have never seen her mad)She's like American of Southern Italian Decent though.

That's true, Pacino is short and you don't even think about it or notice it in the GF hu?

So was James Cagney I believe and he was a "tough guy" too.

What you said is true, my dads a good guy as are you and my hubby. I admit the money and power is a draw, sod it just become a politician

Being a made man comes with a terrible price "your life and soul". I would love the wealth and power and the fear you put into the average working class person. I mean think of what would be running through your mind and how you would feel if you took your family to a nice italian restuarant and in came John Gotti with a bunch of his capos for dinner and sits at a table a few feet from you. I'd be a little nervous, but all that BS about honor and respect went out when all the old cronnies died (Luckey,Carlo Gambino,Vito Genovese,etc....)

Hmmm...interesting. Makes you wonder if some guys do it because they're horizontally challenged! Sorry! That was a bit racy!

It's because of the way they film him, everybody can look great on screen in Hollywood

I put "no". I would not want to be in the mafia - - I want to live a long life, even though I am fascinated by them and I believe The Godfather to be the single greatest cinematic achievement around...but the mafia are not what they used to be. So of course no was my answer.

I wouldn't be a hitman but I'd probably like want to be someone who stole stuff or something .. I really don't know.

Yeah, I changed my mind, count me in. I'd have my life in the Mafia as an undercover cop and bust up some of these murderers and crooks. Score.

Now really would you want to be in the Mafia with people like me around?
