Goodfellas re-release

I saw a thread about the SE of Goodfellas from a few month's back. Besides the comments posted (last one 11/22/04), do any of you have comments about the new version vs. the old version? I saw the SE is at Walmart for $20, which I thought was decent considering it's 2 disks.

Irishman, Turnbull, et al. - any recommendations one way or the other?

The new version has the film all on one side of the disk. That itself is worth the price of admission IMO.

Like cancer said, the older version has half of the movie on side A and the other half of the movie on side B with NO special features. The special edition is well worth the $20. I don't remember if they upgraded the quality of the film transfer wise, but it does have commentaries and a 2nd disc of special features. You'll usually find it for $20 and it's a must have for any fan!

That's a good point. It is a pain in the ass when I have to flip my copy of JFK.

Are the special features comparable to how good the 5th Godfather disk is in terms of quality of what is shown?

The special features are ok from what I remember. I've only seen them once but they aren't that long (maybe 10+ minutes a piece). Not that in depth

Thanks Irishman. But like you said, there was nothing on the original, so anything is a bonus. I wonder if the Casino re-release will be similar to the Goodfellas SE. The original Casino has nothing of interest except the movie.

Well as of now I heard that Casino will have deleted scenes. I think that's all we know as of now but I hope it has commentary on it

Yeah. I love listening to the commentaries. Oh, and the 2nd commentary track (the actors ones) isn't that long.

The Casino DVD also has that documentary that was on the History channel, that's worth the re-release right there in my opinion.
