Casino: Love and Honor in Las Vegas - 04/07/02 10:41 PM

Has anyone read this book? Is it any good? Who are the main characters? Do they have the same names as they had in the movie or are they the real life names of the characters (Rosenthal and Spilotro)?

I just ordered this book off of http://www.abebooks.com (thanks, Turi).

I read it awhile ago and so I don't really remember it, but I do remember liking it. The name Rosenthal rings a bell, so I think that was the character's name in the book, I may be wrong.
But from what I remember, it's definately worth a read.

I don't see why you're thanking me. I wish I recommended this book but I don't think I did.

Rosenthal has a website, it's 99.9% about gambling. It has pictures of his real wife (hot) and clips from his Vegas TV show with Sinatra, Ali and others. I couldn't get them to load and run though. He answers questions from readers but seems to totally avoid the mob aspect of his life story.

In the movie he is Sam "Ace" Rothstein and in the book he is Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal. I'm reading it now but i think i liked "Wiseguy" better.

I'm with Joe Gunch here. "Casino" was an ok read, but it wasn't as good as "Wiseguy." Still, if you liked the movie, "Casino," the book provides very good perspective.
Without question, THE best book to read about the Mob and Nevada is "The Black Book and the Mob" by Farrell and Case.
