Absolutely one of my favorite movies of all time. To me, "A Bronx Tale" was real-life copied to a "T".
I was the same age as Colagero ("C"), at the same time the movie took place, and the portrayal of the wise guys down at the Chez Bippy was very real (even though I grew up in Brooklyn, the Belmont section of the Bronx (in which this was supposed to have taken place) was very similar to my childhood.
The characters of Sonny and Lorenzo were excellently developed, and portrayed, and the music was pure heaven! (Great mix of "The Ten Commandments of Love" being played as the bikers get the stuffing beat out of them).
SC,
What a pleasure having you back! I agree with you about the portrayal of the wise guys. I too grew up in Brooklyn and had "The Club" right down the corner from my house. These guys acted exactly the same way, and all the kids looked up to them back then, wanting to act just like they did. Bronx Tale was so on the mark! By the way, did you know that the parts in the movie where the black kids hung out, by the train station
( the store gets firebombed ) were actually filmed on Gravesend Neck Road in Brooklyn, aroung East 16th street by the elevated train line?
Good to have you posting again my friend!
