Taxi driver scorsese scene - 02/11/15 01:08 PM

In the scene where scorsese is in the back of the taxi cab, was he just an illusion made up by Bickle's mind or was he supposed to be just a regular passenger? I've said this before and I'll say it again, how anybody could ever think that Peter Finch(or anybody who was nominated that year)did a better job and deserved the Oscar over De Niro is just ludicrous.

No. None of anything in the movie was actually supposed to be an illusion. That kind of was just something the fans decided made more sense.. It was never an intention for anything in the film to be a dream or illusion.

Marty only did that because the actor they hired to do that part pulled out last second.

I thought he did pretty good too honestly. Usually I'm not too high on directors(whose primary job is directing. So I'm not talking about Eastwood and others) acting.

Peter Finch was simply outstanding in Network.

taxidriver is somewhat overrated. network on the other hand is way underrated.

the travis bickles are the creation of the Ned beaties.

watch Network then watch Taxi Driver and know the first begets the second.

the dots from one reality really do connect to the other.

Scorsese's cameo in Taxi Driver is hiliarious even though its dark subject matter. According to Deniro he almost burst out laughing during the shooting of that scene, if you look closely you see his eyes teary holding back the laughter.

He was great. Nothing compared to De Niro. When people talk about some of the greatest performances of all time I always hear De Niro in taxi driver come up. I never hear anyone say Pete Finch of all people. And plus he was supporting actor not a lead. Whether it's overrated or not it's hard to deny how good De Niro was
