Forgotten Classic : The Silent Syndicate - 12/18/13 06:32 PM

Hank Messick's book was published in 1967 and is a very important work. It follows "the Four Equal Partners" from gangland crime in Cleveland to respectability in Las Vegas. Dalitz, Rothkopf, Tucker and Kleinman genius criminals and true geniuses of organized crime.

Follows the Cleveland boys for the most part... though all parts of the mob are involved

I read it about 20 years ago, I particularly remember the preface where Messick goes to Cleveland and asks questions and is subsequently made very unwelcome. I remember reading about the molasses factory they were running and vented the exhaust through the sewer to the smokestacks of a building down the street. Classic.
