The Youngest Godfather - 06/24/08 09:40 PM

Hey... I picked this movie up in the little bargain bin at Wally World a while back and it's pretty good. About the real life of Joseph Bonnano (sp?). It's very interesting and informative despite the horrible acting at times. Who's seen it and what do you think about it? I apologize if this is a repeat post. I attempted to post this once before, but it didn't go through for some reason.

Hey FrankWhite, you seen Bonanno: A Godfathers Story?

The movie should have been better, given the cast. Too bad it wasn't.

I just did a search on the net and found that The Youngest Godfather and Bonanno: A Godfathers Story are one and the same.

Turnbull, the Masseria and Maranzano killings pictured in the film are slightly different to how it was in real life, you agree?

If you've seen Lansky, that would be both the correct happenings.

The Youngest Godfather, I thought was good, considering I've watched it 3 times now. Can't wait to see it again!

Dreadful! sick
Just about the only made-for-TV gangster movie I can recommend is "Honor thy Father" (1973), based on Gay Talese's book about Bill Bonanno and the "Bananna War." Stars Joe Bologna as Bill, Brenda Vaccaro as his wife Rosalie, and the great Raf Vallone as Bonanno Sr. Richard Castellano appears, in a part that's very much like Clemenza. Mark Lawrence does a very nice job as Stefano Magaddino. Well done all around.

FrankWhite, Lansky is very good. It tells of Meyer, Bugsy and Charlie Lucky in the Prohibition days, the Masseria and Maranzano killings and later Luckys exile to Italy.

It's a "quiet mob movie" - not anything like Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco and Casino. Lansky is a TV movie.

Lansky is NOT better then Goodfellas - if it is I need help!

I think there was offence taken as The Godfather wasn't mentioned in the above - aka, "We live, eat and breathe The Godfather".

hmmm... thanks TB... I will definately check that out!

and MMBoss... DeNiro was referring to the difference in opinion that you and TB took about "Lansky", not your opinion about it not being better than Goodfellas.
