Months ago I started designing some items, but wasn't thrilled with how they looked.....I don't recall promising dress shirts, tho - but golf shirts most definitely!
Golf shirts with some indication on them that we are all members of the Gangster BB or something are a great idea, I think.
There are loads of companies that make up those all-cotton Polo-type shirts in bright colors with the banded sleeves, the two buttons down the front, etc.
They sell them as promotional items, with a company logo or something else in the spot where the guy on the polo pony, or the alligator, would be.
Two problems, though:
First, like anything else, they get less expensive as the quantity you buy increases, since the expensive part is the "die" (I think it's called) to do the logo or the printing of the words there, or whatever, in the first place.
Like making the die could cost, say, $75, and the shirt itself could cost $12, so the cost of one shirt with the printing we'd want on it might be $87, but the cost of 10 shirts might be $195 ($75 + 10 x 12), or only $19.50 each.
Problem is, unless we made up and sold maybe 30 or 40, the shirts would probably end up costing a lot more than they are worth.
Plus, people would promise to buy them and then wouldn't, etc.
The other problem would be with copyright rights and stuff if we used any Godfather logos or anything that you didn't own if the shirt manufacturers didn't want to get involved with it.
(Note to DC - I've seen the Frank Vincent shirt and I love it. He has a website with loads of Frank Vincent stuff for sale. He also supposedly has a piece of a restaurant around here that I've been trying to nail down for a while, with the hope that if we promise to bring in 15-20 people for dinner, he'd join us.)
