Victim of a hit and run

Victim of a hit and run - 02/05/06 06:55 AM

So I went out with my friend Adam tonight around 5ish. I went to his house and left my car there because he decided to drive. When we got back to his house around 7ish, I'm going to open my door and notice this big ass dent on it. Some son of a bitch hit my fucking car and didn't leave and information for me whatsoever, so I had to call the cops and yadda yadda yadda. I'm guessing I was hit by a car coming out of the driveway across the street from my friend Adam's.

It's a dent on the rear left panel and only there, so that tells me someone had to back into it or come and hit it head on. Someone couldn't have hit it just driving down the road or it'd be on the whole car. So I'm just venting cause I'm gonna be extremely upset if my insurance doesn't cover this because I've saved up my checks in the new year for senior week and college.

Dude, that sucks. I haven't gotten that except for parking lot dings on the door... freaking bastards... but, I think that's part of the deal with car ownership. But, yours sounds like more than just a ding in door... They should give you some $$$, though. If the car isn't so bad, just put it away for a rainy day...

Are you gonna say something to the people across the street? Is your friend familiar with them at all?

Gutted for you Pat, there's nothing worse. I have to say I'm glad you're alright, your topic title made it sound like you've been hit by a car whilst being a pedestrian. You could have suffered a broken tail bone for all we know!

If you can't get anyone claiming liability (and it sounds quite hard without witnesses) just accept it's just a dent, don't involve the insurance company, you'll lose any no claims bonus's and your premiums will go up. Plus Im assuming your excess will be quite high for being a young driver. I had my last car, worth £600, written off due to someone elses fault. I'm gonna get £175 out of it because of "young drivers excess" (under 25's).

At best maybe post a few flyers around the houses asking for witnesses. But like I say, don't inform the insurance fuckers unless you get someone liable for the incident.

Actually, when I read the first line, I thought his friend had been shot in a drive-by. Luckily, Pat has shed himself of the ghetto thang and now listens to what some might say is real music.

Too bad, Pat. As much as you obviously care for your own property, and it's the principle of the dishonesty of some people, it's only a car. Material. A hunk of metal. If it still drives, that's dandy. If it picks less girls up because of it, it may not be so dandy at all.

A couple of months ago, someone broke into my car at a movie theater, causing $1,200 in damage. It was in the shop for a week. The next day after I got it back, someone T-boned my car in a parking lot, causing $1,700 in damage. This was a brand new Cadillac.

I went to a movie myself with some friends almost a month ago and when we got out of the theater, 1 of his back tail lights was busted (someone probably just backed into it) Luckily my car was fine.

Holy shit, long time no see NGE!

I've also been the victim of a car crime - someone knocked the passenger side mirror off my truck, motherfuckers. Didn't leave a note or anything. Fuck them, karma rules.

Hey Pat, I know exactly how that feels. I had my car in the parking lot at work once and some idiot ran into it, hard, and just left. There was a couple thousand in damages, which my insurance covered, but I still had to pay the $250.00 deductable.

I asked around at work for weeks, and no one saw a thing. I refuse to believe anyone could do that and not notice, as the whole passenger side was completely mangled. Bastards.
