Random Thoughts: Things that piss me off

I'll take PLaw's suggestion and start a "thoughts" thread. Feel free to vent. I'll think of more, but like I mentioned before, it's too early to get my brain working.

Things that piss me off:

Pushy sales people (I like to have someone around to ask questions, but not to follow me around like a hound)

Having to stay at work beyond quitting time. :p (it happens from time to time, but usually I'm out the door at 4:00)

Any kind of car trouble (which fortunately I haven't had lately)

Forgetting to set my alarm, waking up late. I feel off track all day.

Being cold

Things that piss me off:

When I need to get out of the store quickly, and I think I've chosen the shortest line, and then the person in front of me has to get a price check on what they wanted to buy.

Same with traffic. No sooner have you picked the lane that you think is moving more quickly, then that lane stops, and the lane that you just left starts moving.

I'm sure that I can think of many, many more, but those two are serious hot buttons to one of the most impatient women in the world!!

The idea of suicide. It's so goddamned stupid that I can't even fathom why one would even consider throwing away one of our greatest gifts. Well, maybe I can understand considering the idea, but acctually going through with it.

Can drivers who don't know how to drive! Especially when you are sitting in the cab, they're driving as slow as molassas and you're in a rush to get to your destination.

I hate the sound of a broom against a puddle of water. That "slush" sound makes my skin crawl and makes me abusive.

Yeah, I work in a mail room. Several things anger me:

1) I pick up inter-office mail at one office and its for the office down the hall. I guess the morons don't realize it...

2) For the faculty lounge has mail boxes for faculty (duh). There's a inter-office mail box there too and guess what people do? They put mail for faculty members in there. It would take like 5 seconds to place it in their box, but nooo, they have to throw it in the inter-office mail box

3) Students who come looking for packages on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays saying they ordered stuff online Friday night. They wonder why their book/clothing/porn hasn't arrived yet... MAYBE BECAUSE THE ORDER WASN'T PROCESSED UNTIL MONDAY, DUH

4) People who call UPS "ups"

5) Poster tubes, because they take up space

6) People who come to the counter and whine

7) People who come to the counter and say "I have a package" and then stare at me like I know who they are and their package is the only one down there.

Animals get so much preferential treatment in today's politically correct society, it makes me sick. A dog takes a crap in the street and no-one batters an eyelid, but when I do it, I get arrested for public indecency.

In the UK, the animal liberation front (!?) think nothing of petrol-bombing the homes of scientists and doctors who are involed in medical research that involved animal testing. About a month ago, some of them dug up the grave of the mother of the owner of a guinea pig farm that supplies an animal testing lab, and held her remains to ransom unless the farm disbanded. And it did! I'm sorry but that's just common bullying terrorism. To think this scum are threatening the lives of hardworking doctors and medical researchers just to protect some guinea pig or lab rat.

Can we please find a cure for cancer? Yes, so long as no animals get hurt! :rolleyes: I don't think so. I'd shoot a hundren cute kittens at point blank range if it meant saving a loved one from cancer.

Only when it succeeds, they try it on human volunteers. Then, they take it to production. During this process, a lot animals get killed, which is bad because not all drugs pass the safety regulations. But on the other hand, there is no other choice. The effect of the drugs on humans cannot be simulated using computers. Atleast not in many cases. If killing animals is so disgusting, why not ban the meat and poultry industry? Will your logic be, "if you are hungry, go eat some vegetables and bread" ??

No, not at all; I'm not that extreme (and neither is my example). I feel its important to point out that animal testing is not the only way in which to proceed for many manufacturing processes, but its done because its the easiest (and cheapest) way for many of the manufacturers.

I see nothing wrong with eating those animals raised exclusively for food. People have to eat and nobody likes a good steak better than I. But killing animals to see if some makeup will give someone a rash is wrong. You have to ask yourself, "do we REALLY need that product"?

I do not favor killing animals for clothing that can be easily manufactured otherwise (i.e. for their fur) but I'd never condone pouring a bucket of paint on someone wearing one of those furs. I do, however, laugh whenever I see that on tv.
