Hopefully this is okay to post, the idea behind this condom is that it goes into a woman's vagina (I would imagine it's one per day) but as you can tell by the picture it's kind of like those spikes at the airport. When an unwanted penis goes in it latches onto it and cuts it in I don't know how many places.

I don't know how practical it will be but at least it's a start.

Is this thing for real? If so, it is a first step for women to take their protection into their own hands. And one that is long overdue, no? But is this available over the counter? I believe that DV has a good point. How do you keep this from falling into the wrong hands? And would you just walk around with one? A little impractical, IMHO.

SB, nothing prevents that. What prevents any harmful object? I think this is a good step for women to protect themselves, but there will be scenarios like this on the news, I guarantee it. :p

Here's scenario, just think of the people you'd see on "Cops."

Husband and wife get into fierce argument. Things get thrown and broken. Wife calms husband down, and turns on the charm. Sex leads to a very painful place for the man. We'll be seeing a lot of John Wayne Bobbitts around.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what the concept is here.

Does the woman wear the thing every day, just in case today happens to be the day when someone attempts to rape her?

Does she wear it when she has a date, but is afraid of date rape?

Does she carry it with her at all times, hoping that she has the chance to insert it if she needs it?

I have the feeling that this device will not exactly be a big seller.

It would be everyday I assume.

PL, Given the high percentage of sexual assaoult on college campuses today, perhaps making it "the must-have accessory" for frat parties is not a bad idea.

It might work its’ way into our culture. In several years, a lot of people may be hearing "Hold on, let me take my vaginal condom out first."

It's a sad world when we need little conveniences like these in our daily life, but I guess it'll help.

it's just such a scary thing to have to think that every day a woman like myself on a college campus or out anywhere has to be prepared for such a thing as rape. to think of a time in the future where such an item is being used as often and in line with putting on mascara as part of a daily ritual is a horrible possibility


on the other hand and on the lighter side, it may come in handy when significant others find themselves in hot water O=)
