Deadwood - 03/02/05 05:01 PM

Deadwood: Season 2 starts this Sunday at 9 p.m.

Is anyone else excited about this? I know that there were some Deadwood fans on this board last year. I usually only subscribe to HBO when the Sopranos is on, but I got hooked on Deadwood last year and have already resubscribed to HBO.

Also, I see that HBO2 is going to re-air the entire first season, three episodes a night, starting tonight.

Is that the show about the cowboys and all that?

I am a big fan of Deadwood and looking forward to Sunday.

Great acting and well written.

You gotta love Al Swearingin, makes Tony Soprano look like a boy scout yet he has a good guy quality about him.

Did you know that the actor that plays Doc also played Billy Babbit in One Flew Over the Cuokoos Nest.

Wow, I had no idea. I love that movie.

As for Deadwood, you're completely right - the acting and writing are excellent. In addition to Swearingin...you gotta like Bullock. He's a badass that has just enough morals to make him a good guy - a great character (although I know he is based on the real person too).

Historicly Wyatt Earp passed through Deadwood on his way toward Tombstone. Some say he also inquired about being Sheriff.

I wonder If they will incorporate that into season 2

Yeah, I read that too. I'm sure they'll incorporate it somewhere down the line.

After I hooked on the show last season, I started reading up on the real history of Deadwood...very interesting stuff. Although, I did find out some stuff that happened in the show before it happened on the show, it didn't really ruin it for me.

I can't wait! It's the best series on TV.

Does Powers Boothe have a major role on the show?

Re: Deadwood - 03/02/05 08:50 PM

Yes, Powers Boothe plays Cy Tolliver, a rival saloon owner of Al Swearingin.

Also, regarding Wyatt Earp, I saw this posted on another message board:

Quote:
"It's a historical fact that Wyatt Earp came to Deadwood and that Bullock threw Wyatt Earp out of town the next year. Earp came in to try to organize for George Hearst and Bullock beat the s**t out of him. We'll be seeing Earp in the next season." (source: David Milch, quoted in True West Magazine) (A Deadwood rep cautions viewers that Milch could change his mind, and Wyatt Earp may not join the series until the third season.) They will “cast big,” in other words, get a big-name actor to portray Earp.

If you have HBO2, you can catch up before the new season starts - they are showing three episodes per night of Season 1 from 8-11pm, starting tonight.
