I'm Italian American. Born here. Parents born here. All four grandparents born in Italy.

I stress the American part because all too often you'll get guys on these boards (and in real life) who overdo the Italian thing so much, you just know they're overcompensating for something. It's like they have an identity crisis.

And that's not to say that I don't feel close to the culture because God knows I do. I lived in Lauropoli, Cosenza for almost two years before I got married, and we still own the property where my paternal grandmother was born in that town.

I just hate all the phony ginzo shit. Like the guy who thinks he's a real Italian because he memorized the words to a Jerry Vale song, but doesn't speak a word of Italian otherwise. It's like when Paulie Walnuts went to Italy and asked for macaroni and regular gravy .

Yeah since I'm so many things I still show pride in each one. I don't pretend to be 100% Italian but I still take pride in being Italian but don't go too far and overdo it.

haha those are pretty hard to show pride (I don't mean I'm not proud of it, I am)compared to showing pride in being Irish and Italian. The way I show pride in being Polish is by eating pierogi's. You should try them them. I have no idea on how to show pride in being French

Irish,Jewish,Italian. My dad's father was 100% Italian, my Grandmother remarried a Jew and took his name, My mom was Irish and Italian but kept her mom's name and my pop was locked up when i was born so i got 2 last names. Niether of them Italian.

Irish, I can honestly say I don't know them enough to judge. Greeks are great cooks? Seems like they own alot of restaurants! No effect on me either way.

No - my mother is 100% Italian and my dad is 100% German & Hillbilly. Mom was born & raised in Little Italy (Aberdeen & West Harrison Street - near Tufano's Restaurant & Tap) and dad was born & raised in Kentucky/Indiana.

I was searching Google for info on former Westchester County DA Jeanine Pirro when I cam across info on Dana Pirino, former Bush Press Secretary. On the right hand side of the screen it listed her Nationality as American and Italian. While she may hold dual-citizenship, it's doubtful. Nationality identifies the country of which one is a citizen. Its listing of Italian is her ethnicity.

I tried to find a Google contact, but to no avail.

My father's side has been here a while. I think you could call his sides irish or scots-irish if really needed to. My mothers ancestors all came from Italy. I don't really think of myself as half this or that too much. For the most part I just consider myself to be a good ol' American cracker.
