i'm not a political expert, so if someone wants to go pick through what i have to say with a fine tooth comb to try and take away my credibility, go ahead
i think people are more worried about one group(regardless of which side), trying to impose thier beliefs/ideas on them, which is where at least some of this secede talk comes from. let me elaborate...
regardless of which side you voted for(i voted for neither as i'm not gonna vote for somebody who i disagree with on so many fronts, meaning both parties) there is alot of division in this country and the close election proved this. we live in a country of around 330 million people, so the bottom line is no matter who wins, alot of people are gonna be unhappy. this is why i believe states rights are so important, particularly today. some people might have a different view, but to me the way the country was set up was so that if the area you live in has some laws/rules/regulations that you don't agree with, either try to change them or move to a state that better suites you. what we have evolved into is a country where what the almighty feds say goes, which leads to countless problems as its hard enough to please a family of 4 in terms of whats for dinner as opposed to an immense population when it comes to the many complex political issues that we are facing.
both parties always claim to be for states rights, but only when it seems to suite thier particular agenda. whether the issue is economic policy, gay rights/marriage, gun laws, immigration, medical marijuana, let the states decide. with that said there is always some asshole with some whitty comment like "well, what if the states wanna legalize child porn" or something similarly stupid. not gonna happen, as the majority of people have alot more common sense that the federal government gives them credit for. this is why i believe that local/county/state elections are more important now than ever as its just an impossible task to please everyone in a country as diverse as america. just my two cents guys
