The Don's Con (Miami, May 2011)

Just got an email from John Martino about a new annual convention called The Don's Con, this year to be held in Miami, May 13-15.

So far, confirmed celebs include the actual Henry Hill, Joe Gannascoli, John Fiore, John Martino, Chris Serrone (Young Henry Hill), Robert Miano (Sonny Red), Frank Santorelli (Georgie the Bartender), Joe D'Onofrio (Young Tommy, Slick)

There's no show schedule posted yet, but I'll keep an eye out. After the Chicago disaster (the event itself, not hanging out!), I'm a bit leery, especially for the ticket prices + airfare + hotel... but throwing this out there.

Doesn't pizzaboy hang out in Miami?? Maybe we'll meet up there!

If I'm not mistaken, Geoff went out a bought a suit just like Rebenga's. He's stylin'.

We're in Delray Beach, Tis, which is about 50 miles due north of Miami. But yes, when we're in Florida we do get to the Miami area quite a bit. When my father first retired and my mom was still alive, they had a place in Sunny Isles, which is basically North Miami Beach, so I have quite a bit of history there. My wife can't take take the summers, or we'd be down there all year, believe me.

I don't know anything about the event, but I can recommend many wonderful restaurants and hotels/motels/guest houses in the vicinity .

Sicilian Babe is also very familiar with the area .

I am the Don of the Don's Con, this event is happening May 13-15th 2011 at The Hyatt Regency in downtown Miami Florida. Just signed two more guests, Frank Cullotta and John Aprea. The schedule of events will be up as we get closer to the show. Once I know who all is coming, I will put up the Q&A schedule. Movies will be shown all day. The VIP party will be happening at 8pm Saturday may 14th. Doors open at 4pm Friday for VIPS, 5pm for general admission. Sat and Sun the doors open at 10 am for VIPS, 11 am for gen ad. Autographs will be sold for approximately 6 hours everyday. The Gambling parlor will be open as long as there are people in there gambling. The Speakeasy will be open til 2am everyday. Happy hour prices from open to close.

Henry Hill? Ugh...

He's a falling down drunk of epic proportions. I tried to listen to his bit on Stern and it was painful.

I'm as interested in the mob as anyone here but can't really imagine what it would be like to meet Frank Cullotta and ask for his autograph. "So Frank--what was it like to shoot Jerry Lisner in the head? Can I shake your hand?"

Schedule of events is now listed on www.thedonscon.com the difference between this show and the Chicago show is that this one is more about the movies and actors. It is also more if a party atmosphere with the gambling parlor and speakeasy. This is not a ballroom at a holiday inn.
