New job

New job - 01/16/10 07:52 AM

I'm not sure how long I'll be on these boards in the next few months. Reason being is before christmas I interviewed for a new job where I currently work and I just found out earlier tonight that I got the job.

That means I'll have to re-locate to peoria Illinois for a little while.

Amazing thing is I totally thought that I f*cked up in the interview. But I'm looking forward to this, it's a brand new business that will be starting up where I currently work. So I'll be on the ground floor of something.

Good luck with the new job and location.

Once you get settled in Peoria, I recommend a place called "Avanti's". There may be two or three in the area, but the one near the Bradley University campus is the one I'm familiar with ~ they make a sandwich (with awesome homemade bread) called a gondola which was awesome! They also have decent Italian standards (pasta, pizza, etc.) and they used to be fairly inexpensive.

Good luck, Iceman. Relocating can be very stressful, especially when you get a little older. Just think of the big picture.

That's great Iceman. I hope everything works out well for you. I assume the training only is in Peoria and you'll not be locating there altogether? confused I hope that you finding a job is a good sign that perhaps the economy is turning too.

Good luck

Iceman, welcome to Illinois! For that "Sunday dinner @ grandma's house" feeling you MUST try Agatucci's Restaraunt on N. University Ave. in Peoria. Great food and good thin crust pizza! Congrats and good luck with your new endeavors!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, yeah it'll be a challenge and some getting used to But I'm looking forward to it.

And yeah TIS this re-location is temporary possibly 3-4 months, I'll be allowed to return back home every 2 weeks or so.

Iceman, Good Luck and Good Skill! Can you tell us who/where you're going and what you'll be doing?

I second SC's recommendation on Avanti's! Their Gondola is one of the best sandwiches you'll find anywhere!

I would also recommend a visit to Big Al's, but you'll have to wait until they find a new location!

Also, try your luck at the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino on the mighty Illinois River.

Catch a rising star at the Illinois state high school basketball tournament at the Peoria Civic Center in March.

A new venture - exciting. Best of luck and skill. Obviously your time on the GBB and the influence it has in shaping your persona had a direct affect on your landing the job.......and Geoff didn't even have to send SC to Peoria to make an offer they couldn't refuse. Don't forget to send flowers.

Re: New job - 01/21/10 12:10 AM

Slight change of plans I still have the job but it looks like I'll only be in Peoria for a week. Then I'll be back to where I'm at now I'll be involved with ordering parts and the packaging for shipping the stuff out. Their going to have me involved in that since I'm familiar with that aspect from the job I do now.

The guy told me having me go to Peoria is to mainly look at all that goes on.

Oh well I'm still looking forward to the challenge.
