Question about WW2 Nazi medal

My dad was married to a woman in Germany while he served during the Vietnam era and the woman's father(or grandfather) was in the Nazi regime. My dad gave me a medal so I looked it up on google and found an article in the wikipedia. Does anyone know any more information about this "Cross of Honor of the German Mother"? I put his war picture in the photograph of the medal. Thank you for any additional help.
