Sorry I am too inept to plant the AP story here (someone else is welcome to!) But I just saw where the coroner said she died of an "accidental" drug overdose....mixing up too many different medications.

I know everyone joins me in their utter shock at this development. Someone who lived such a clean and scandal free lifestyle certainly would have died of natural causes right???

Did the courts ever decide who gets custody of the baby girl?

Not yet. The paternity issue will be settled in the Bahamas where Larry Birkhead has become a favorite of the locals.

I read that when he's seen in public he actually gets applause, whereas Howard K Stern gets booed.

Only in America, er, the Bahamas.

Ok, Anna Nicole dying, that's a news story, and I admit I am curious who the father of the baby is, but yes, this story is really getting way too much coverage. With all the other stuff (political & otherwise) going on in the world, this continues to rule the news.

FWIW, every now and then I'll check Yahoo's most popular searches for the day, and it's always Anna Nicole, Brittney Spears, and other very secondary (and/or non-story stories). Are these stories really ones that the average person wants mmore of???

"Anna Nicole Smith Finally Reaches Target Weight"

NASSAU, BAHAMAS—Former stripper turned Playboy Playmate turned reality-TV star Anna Nicole Smith has overcome her longtime struggle with obesity, at last reaching her target weight of 125 pounds, sources said Monday.

"Anna's been through a lot," said Florida Circuit Court Judge Larry Seidlin, who became visibly emotional as he spoke to reporters. "But I think it's fair to say that she hasn't been this happy in years."

Forensics reports reveal that Smith's miraculous weight loss began on Feb. 8, when she was discovered unconscious in her Hollywood, FL hotel room. She then proceeded to shed the baby weight she had gained during her recent pregnancy, even as her numerous legal woes and the controversy surrounding her 6-month-old daughter Dannielynn's paternity thrust Smith into the public eye more than ever before.

"The last several weeks have been particularly rough for Anna, but thankfully she's turned a corner," said attorney Richard Millstein, the legally appointed guardian for Dannielynn. "At least some good has come out of this sad and sordid tale."

Several sources close to Smith confirmed that she did have some work done in the intervening weeks, losing a significant amount of weight after doctors removed several pounds of her internal organs for toxicity tests. Others credit the loss to aggressive calorie cutting.

Broward County Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Perper said Smith "slowly and steadily" shed the excess pounds before closing in on her goal in the past week.

"Those last 20 pounds were the hardest," Perper said. "But God bless her, she did it. Finally, after all that struggle, she's in a good place."

Some weight-loss experts, however, see Smith's achievement as less than inspirational, claiming that such drastic crash dieting can cause the body to lose dangerous amounts of water and muscle mass.

"She can't be healthy," Miami-based dietitian Pam Archer said. "From what I understand, her current appearance is, frankly, frightening. Even though she's reached her target, her weight is continuing to drop at an alarming pace. Pretty soon she'll be nothing but skin and bones."

Despite such criticism, Krista Barth, attorney for Smith's common-law husband Howard K. Stern, defended Smith. "While we don't claim to be entirely pleased with the outcome of the events of the past several weeks, if nothing else, she finally lost the weight, and nobody, not even an appeals court, can take that away from her," Barth said. "Anna Nicole deserves full credit for finally getting what she always wanted."

Smith is currently celebrating her new slimmed-down status in the Bahamas, where she is expected to remain indefinitely.

Look in the Wall Street Journal every Monday (I think) and they have the top movies, television shows, records and downloads. It tells you all you need to know about people's priorities.

I, for one, am so tired of "celebrities" that I keep my homepage set to my mail page so I don't even have to see them in the news or entertainment sections of Yahoo or AOL.

Do I care that Lindsay's drinking again ? Fuck her and those $40,000 a month rehabs! There are people who would love the opportunity to truly get sober who lay in the streets waiting for a bed to open up. It's sinful.

My neighbor is a drug counselor, the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He hasn't had a drink in like 14 years and the stories that he tells me are just so scary that they could move you to tears. Young men and women dying in the streets because they couldn't get a bed at Bellevue, etc...I almost feel guilty if I'm having a cold beer when he comes by.

Then I see these kids, who are making millions of dollars, and only agree to go to rehab so insurance companies will bond them on movie sets. Then when they're done with the movie, they're out sticking it in everyone's face, by showing up on PAGE 6, throwing up in a Hollywood nightclub.

They make me sick.

What I hate more is, celebrities that use the rehab route whenever they get in major trouble. Mel Gibson, Robin williams, that dude from GREY'S ANATOMY that was stupid enough to say fa***t to a gay co-worker, and now Spears/Lohan.

You know...its really pathetic and sad when K-Fed looks more sober and reasonable as a parent, and he's the man-whore of the lot!

yeah my dad & I were in Oklahoma for a gun show this weekend, and he turned the news on and Anna's death was being reported on. And my dads first words were.

"For jesus fucking christ they're still talking about that no talent, ugly bitch?, man this nations priorities have gone down the shitter"

Since this story is being thrown at us daily, it's hard not to pay attention to some of it.

Can anyone think of any possible reason (other than what seems obvious) why Howard K. Stern wouldn't want to provide his DNA to get this paternity thing over with? This particular phase of the never ending story would be over if he did so. Then again, they won't need Stern's DNA if Burket's is a match will they?

However, I hear he is appealing it because he claims Larry Burket hasn't proven that he was with Anna Nicole during that time span. What better way to prove it than to give your DNA and get the whole damn thing over with?
