Very mature. rolleyes First off, where am I talking about rap? Please point it out for me. Secondly, if you don't think this topic belongs here, then you can't comprehend movies very well, as Scarface was all about grasping the American Dream. wink -Pat

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/02/04 10:10 PM

lol lol lol
Pat-dude-dig a little deeper for the "American Dream". While Scarface was partly about going from nowhere to somewhere-why not leave a lasting impression and do it on something a little more positive.
Posted By: Patrick

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/02/04 11:09 PM

I don't care if it's positive or not. He took nothing and turned it into a little bit of something.

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/02/04 11:14 PM

and he was murdered-that is not the american dream.

Thats why you go to college-I will be majoring in pre-med. And Pat, I am not attacking your views, I'm just stating my opinon-so please don't take it the wrong way.

College costs money. After you're done with college, all the money make will have to be paid back for loans and shit. -Pat

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/03/04 02:56 AM

Why are u putting tupac shit into an American dream collage?

Is that what the American dream is about? Rapping about killing people, drugs, guns, whores and then getting shot by a rival rapper?

Yeah, that makes sense....

An american dream would be more like a JFK type of figure.... dream on pat...Tupac is shit.

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/03/04 03:00 AM

College isn't going to cost me a dime-and I go to an alternative school-so I'm not in the top 10%-i failed the 9th grade-I became a mom in my 2nd 9th grade year (10th grade). If you dig around Pat-you can find something-a lot of scholarships are essays-maybe you can find one that you can debate Tony or Tupac as the american dream wink . What grade are you in 11th/12th? talk to your high school counselor-fill out something for a pell grant-hell do some research on the computer-but like i said-most scholarship apps are essays-im sure yu can find one that appeals to you. (I did one on Michael Corleone).

Wow, your ignorance is amazing. You know absolutely nothing about Tupac. If you think Tupac rapped all about drugs and killing, then you need to do some research on the topic itself, before criticizing it. Tupac was more intelligent then what you'll ever be. -Pat

Patches--I don't even think I'm going to college, unless I become a writer. I'd like to just open up my own sports bar on the boardwalk and kick it for the rest of my life. -Pat

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/03/04 09:28 PM

My brother's friend had a sports bar-oddly enough it was called "Tony's" after Tony Montana-but he was obssessed-I think he secretly wanted to be with Pacino's character. I love Tupac myself-every time I feel down I put on "Keep Your Head Up". so will the real men get up-I know your fed up ladies-keep your head up...
I love that song. I feel as though Tupac was an "inspirational poet" if you will-just a few bad words and things make it a bit disagreeable but that was just his way of expressing his mind.
Thats just my opinion-how'd your assignment go anyhow.

I grew up in whats commonly known as the wrong side of the tracks-I grew up with Tupac, Grandmaster Flash, so on, so I know pretty much all those songs. I bought a few edited cds on ebay so my little boy can dance to them. Its pretty cute.

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/03/04 11:43 PM

Do you know me Pat? No you dont. For all you know I can be a god damn rocket scientist....but I would still be less educated than Tupac right? Cuz Tupac knows all....

He DID rap about guns and all that crap, his songs can prove this. He even sold crack and shit on the street, some hero he is. Just another rapper.
Posted By: Patrick

Re: The American Dream Collague - 05/03/04 11:57 PM

I didn't say he didn't rap about guns and drugs. I said it wasn't all about that. Tupac sold drugs because he was a Thug. Not a gangsta or gangster, a Thug. A member of a group who is going to go out and shoot a person who may be effecting their society or maybe someone who is selling drugs. They'll either beat up this person or they'll kill him. They'll steal his drugs and sell them, but instead of going out and buying useless shit, they'll maybe give it to a person in need or donate it. Thugs are like a living contradiction. BTW, I know you're not a rocket scientist, as a rocket scientist wouldn't be as idiotic as you to conversate about things he has no knowledge about. -Pat

Re: The American Dream Collague - 06/26/04 03:39 AM

I like the way the DVD case puts it, "He lived the Amercian Dream With a Vengance." Tony Montana definately exhibited some of the qualities that is associated with the Amercian Dream, but, most people who experience that dream, are not drug dealing killers who get murdered by a Bolivian drug lord. I think we can all admire his ambition and rise to power, but we shouldn't admire the path he took with his ambition, or what organization he rose to power in.

Re: The American Dream Collague - 06/27/04 01:05 AM

The American dream doesn't exist. The government is just way to secretive, and unfair to allow such a thing. There is something called luck, and the economy. I'm sorry I just can't stand people thinking this country is number one. Don't get me wrong, I love America I just think we need to make major improovements. But there are just so Many other countries with just the same, if not more, freedoms and a shit load of oppurtunity. I'd say maybe we used to be number 1 but it is the kind of cockiness of thinking we will always be on top and the whole "american dream" theory that anyone can make it here. I don't mean to sound racist, I hate racisim, but seriously many minority occupations are either horrible occupations and many people just give the minorities occupations even if they are less qaulified then the other guy, so they dont seem racist which in the long run is just as bad as being a racist. Thats the opposite of equal oppurtunity. Like I said I hate racism and I feel this has to stop, and we must truly give equal oppurtunity. Did you guys know that statistics proove that the current most discriminated against person in the U,S. is the white male? I'm sure you're all goingto think this was a waste of time and I plan on getting comments reffering to me as a consceeded liberal or something along those lines... Well whatever I will let you continue but please if you comment on this be open minded. I've gotten into so many debates with conservitive friends and family members, and republicans over other forumss, and they are never open minded. So please If you even comment on this I beg of you to keep it CLEAN, RESPECTIBLE, and OPEN MINDED.

I think 2pac is def one of the best examples of the american dream. How he started, to where he got to. {except for his killing) And to the person who said that JFK is an example for the american dream is WRONG, he was living the american dream the minute he was born. He endured no struggle, he was a rich boy. The american dream is about the passions of acheiving your goal of getting money. ( in my opinion)

Pat,
Tupac and Scarface DO NOT go hand in hand. 2 separate things. The Def Jam feature did not belong on the DVD. I've said it a thousand times, Blacks had nothing to do with the scarface movie. Written, acted and produced by whites.

Once again, I really don't care what you have to say. I don't even watch MTV, save for some news specials. I hate all rap except for Tupac and rap from the late 80's and early 90's. I hate all the new shit, save for Eminem and some Ludacris and Kanye West. -Pat
