Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 05:27 AM

This movie looks...interesting. Especially with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka. The previews make me want to see it because of Depp's lines.

"You're really weird!"

I'll see it sometime only for Burton and Depp. Burton will probably provide an interesting art direction.

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 05:36 AM

I dont know about this movie. Although I'm a fan of Depp and Burton. The previews actually make me want to see it less. Maybe because Wonka will always be Gene Wilider to me and the oompa loompas will always been orange in a white outfit.
Have you seen the new oompa loompas?!?!
Anyway, I'll probably see it just to give it a try, but I doubt I'll like it as much as the original. Plus, I always like the songs from the original. Pure Imagination, I've Got a Golden Ticket, Candyman, etc..

Yeah, most likely it will be mediocre, but probably still fun.

I've been looking forward to this movie for a while now. As many do, I love Depp, and I adore Tim Burton's style, so I'll be very excited to see what they've done with the story. I don't really expect it to replace the original, but I think it'll be fun to watch.

I don't know....maybe I'm wrong, but I feel irritated seeing a talented actor like Depp in this kind of movies....

This is the type of movie that I will wait till it comes out on video. No way will I pay full price to see something like this no matter how good people say it is.

Ditto! With the only difference being I'm not going to buy the video. And I doubt I'll watch it on TV either... :p

I wasn't going to watch it at first, but with all the previews I've decided to see it solely for Depp (I can't stand Burton)

He looks to creepy and weird. Almost like a pedophile. I wonder if with all the Michael Jackson hype if there would be any kind of backlash for a movie about an adult man who hangs with kids.

Good Point

Maybe there would of if they called it "Michael and the Chocolate Factory".

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 03:27 PM

Oh..that was a good one FS.

Although, I don't think Michael likes the "she" in that though. How many 12 year old girls does he share his bed with?

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 03:37 PM

With Michael, do you really know if he is a He or a She anymore?

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 03:40 PM

I think Michael has graduated to being an "it".

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 03:47 PM

See they should have gotten Michael to do the movie instead of Johnny Depp.

Michael could use the money!

Remember when he did the Wiz of Oz.
Talk about a bomb.

Gene Wilder is the only true Willy Wonka. Johnny Depp's new version looks like the original, except on LSD. I wouldn't support Depp anyways, but this is blasphemy. The original is too classic for a remake.

Just wait until they remake The Godfather and cast Ben Affleck as Michael Corleone

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 05:45 PM

Great, then they could use the now-pregnant Jennifer Garner as Connie!

Who'd be a great Sonny?

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 06:34 PM

Brad Pitt!

I'm joking...or am I?

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 06:36 PM

And how about Fredo? Here's who we have so far for the remake

Michael Corleone - Ben Affleck
Connie Corleone - Jennifer Garner
Sonny Corleone - Brad Pitt
Fredo Corleone - ?
Vito Corleone - ?
Tom Hagen - ?
Director - Don Vercetti!?

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/01/05 07:48 PM

I'd rather slam my dick in a door then direct Ben Affleck.

Tom Hagen has to be Matt Damon, Ben Afleck's bitch.

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/04/05 01:57 PM

I think this movie looks horrible, yet everyone I know is dying to see it. They all claim to be Tim Burton/Johnny Depp fans, yet none of them have even heard of their best collaboration, "Ed Wood".
My friends kept telling me, "No no no, this isn't going to be a musical, it's going to be MUCH darker!". Judging from what I've seen through the trailers and through the Behind the Scenes feature on HBO yesterday, there are musical numbers, and it doesn't look dark....just silly.
Why remake a classic that probably everyone has seen at least once? Stupid, just like Burton's other remake: "Planet of the Apes".

Re: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - 07/04/05 03:11 PM

True Omar. I still can't find Ed Wood, which is supposedly his best. And yes, it probably will follow in the path of Planet of the Apes, but still looks interesting. (same way I felt about 'Planet' )

I heard that Scorsese was attached at one point.

Seen Ed Wood. Seen Edward Scissorhands. Going to see Willy Wonda.

Though a fan of the original, Burton & Depp I'll watch again.
