Hey Ivy, did you see "Faster" or "The Transporter" movies?
If so can you delve into how "Drive" is different?

Yes, I've seen both. And, while I enjoyed both Faster and The Transporter films, they don't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as this. Drive is on a whole other level. Faster and the Transporters are just fun, albeit mindless, action. Drive has lots of action, but at heart it's a drama. An art/noir, crime/drama. Great directing, acting, soundtrack, etc. Also very very, brutal.

I hope it gets a release here before too long. It looks pretty cool.

I just saw this yesterday, good film Gosling is superb as "the strong silent type", loved the retro feel to it, and the soundtrack, certainly it is rare to see films like this made today. Despite it being its first day release the theatre was half empty, everyone was watching Hugh Jackman train fighting robots which tells you all you need to know about Hollywood today and people in general.
The issues I had with the film was I though the graphic violence at times bordered on ridiculous, and the film seemed to end rather suddenly.

Interesting review Nicky. I'll definitely check it out.
Im in NZ at the moment and to the best of my knowledge it hasn't got a release where I am.

Besides that, they assign you a seat number. A fuckin' seat number! If I get there early enough, Ill sit where I damn well please, thank you very much! Im sick of some asshole getting there three scenes in and having the nerve to tell me Im sitting in his seat? WTF? And then, get the usher and security when I tell him go f*#k himself? And lead to Mrs Meatballs doin' her "I told you this would happen, Im so f%@king embarrassed right now, let's just move" routine?!?

Im waiting till Im back in the motherland, it looks like. Im there next week, it'll be worth it.

Yeah, the theater was mostly empty when I saw it too. Meanwhile, like you said, everyone else is watching rock 'em, sock 'em robots.

I don't think the graphic violence was ridiculous. Simply realistic. The director didn't pull any punches.
