I didn't realize I'd be getting it so early here in CA. I can't say I have any real favorites because I haven't seen many of the films. I was rooting for Paul McCartney though, just because I like him. Sorry to say he lost.

I had to check because I have seen him but didn't know his name. It's Ricky Gervais.

Avator won a couple; Sandra Bullock; Robert Downey Jr. (and looking good too). The Hangover won best comedy.

yea thats the guy. he has some funny moments, but yea not the best host.

i really don't see why avatar won the award i mean yea the design and all that looks great, but the story is a re-hash of dances with wolves. bullock, downey jr., and the hangover deserved to win.

Avator is getting a lot of good buzz. From the previews it looks really different, and whatever the technology is called it looks pretty groundbreaking, BUT I am not interested in seeing it.

I "heard" Jeff Bridges was very good too but again, I can't comment, because I haven't seen the movie. I feel sorry for George Clooney though. He should have won just for looking so good.

I LOVE Ricky Gervais!! Dammit!! I'm sure he did very well, right??

Why? Because AVATAR is about week or two away from beating TITANIC to become the biggest movie in history. Yes the ship will finally sink. That's the biggest (maybe sole) reason.



He was good, its just he stuck it to those celebrities, who don't like being confronted in public about their global-size egos and disgusting materialism.

Plus Gervais had balls to make that DUI joke in front of Mel Gibson.

Glad to see Jeff Bridges win. You all realize he never won an Oscar? Cher has one, so does Julia Roberts and that Roberto Italian Dude. But not The Dude.

Isn't that due to ticket prices? It's 12-15 dollars a ticket to see it in 3D around here, which is three times the price for tickets when Titanic came out.

I liked what he said when presenting Best Animated movie:

"Animated movies aren't just for kids, but adults who take drugs as well."

Oh Paul, not every movie is YELLOW SUBMARINE.

I didn't even watch it.

I wasn't too crazy about Ricky myself. He had a couple moments that were a little humorous. He did pick on Paul McCartney and Mel Gibson though.

He was okay, but sort of blah.

I was rooting for "Glee", so I was glad to see the show win. I was annoyed that Jane Lynch didn't win, though, because her portrayal of the evil high school coach is hilarious. I've admired her work for years.

I am always amazed at some of the Fashion reviews the celebrities get. While I can easily judge from my couch what's good and what sucks. I wouldn't be as cruel as some of these supposed experts are.

Here's a few examples:

Cameron Diaz: Cammie D's bias-cut Alexander McQueen gown was the perfect fit, but her boring bun and Joker-like lipstick ruined what could have been a stellar showing.


Nicole Kidman: The icy Aussie delivered a serious fashion faux pas by matching her satin Nina Ricci gown with her pale, porcelain skin.

Jane Adams (Hung)Even though she was nominated for her performance in the HBO series "Hung," Jane Adams looked as if she'd rather be anywhere but at the Golden Globes in an unforgivable ensemble and unnecessary frown.

Rita Wilson: Rita Wilson looked frumpy in her spring-like, Laura Ashley-inspired number, while Tom disappointed in an ill-fitting suit. (It IS an ugly dress. It looks like it was once a couch.)

Jessica Lane: Grey Gardens" star Jessica Lange looked uncomfortable in her unflattering floor-length metallic mess and unruly mane.

Just a final thought. I was so pleased to see that Kevin Bacon won for "Taking Chance." Such a quiet, low-key yet very moving film. He did a great job.

I didn't get to see that film, but heard that it was very good, and that he did a terrific job. I was happy to see him win. He went from that dancing fool in "Footloose" to being a darned good actor. I especially liked him in "A Few Good Men".

Much as i like to see British folk doing well over in Hollywood, i still can't work out why they had Gervais doing the Globes. He isn't that funny. Babe got it right when she said he was smug. Perfect explanation of him. He also thinks he is a lot funnier than what he actually is....

He was pretty ballsy with a couple of his "daring" comments.

This is as he introduces Mel Gibson

I like to drink as much as the next man, unless the next man is Mel Gibson.

This is as he's speaking to the audience talking to Paul McCartney.

"I flew out on the same plane as Paul. I was first class, Paul was coach. Yea, Paul has to watch his pennies,he had an expensive year" (referring to his huge divorce settlement.) Of course they put the camera on Paul who sort of nodded, but couldn't have been too pleased.

He had his moments, for sure, but they were not many of them.

I rarely watch award shows, but my mother-in-law was visiting, so I sat through it. I had never heard of the host before, but thought he was hilarious.

I had never heard of most of the tv shows and movies nominated. A lot of the actors and actresses were new to me as well. I thought it was a tad weird that an actress, dressed like a painted up hooker, put on a serious face to say in honor of the haitian people they are wearing ribbons. I thought, "Honey, the way all you ladies are dolled up you might as well been saying that in honor of the haitians, you're revealing extra cleavage."

Ha ha ha I know the actress your speaking of, but can't think of who it was now. Anybody else think Cher looked plastic?????

Cher looks AWFUL. That THING was the same warm and vital woman from "Moonstruck" and "Silkwood"?
