Bear Grylls - 07/22/07 10:03 PM

Is there anything this man can't do? I've seen him cut open a deer and sleep in it, squeeze the juice out of elephant poop and drink it, drink his own urine, kill a rabbit with a stick, eat bugs, eat the flesh off of a raw zebra, escape quicksand, jump into a six foot deep pool of mud, build a raft and escape from a pacific island to try to find a rescue ship... The man makes Steve Irwin look like a pussy. Man vs. Wild may be the funniest show on television right now.

Watch Bear piss on his shirt and turn it into a hat to keep cool.

And here, Bear can be seen jumping into a frozen lake, only to escape, get completely naked, rub snow all over his body, and do push-ups to retain body heat.

Agree, I love this show. A few weeks ago I forget where he was but he came across a spiders web and just picked up the spider and ate it. And when he killed that rabbit by throwing the stick at it, yeah I laughed.

When he killed the rabbit, that was hilarious!

Wasn't that the same one where he tried to tame a wild horse, and failed miserably?

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/23/07 02:27 AM

Haha, the taming of the horse was pretty funny. He tried to jump on it and the horse just ran off.

The show is pretty amazing. If I had Tivo or DVR or something that let me record shows I'd record every single episode of that show.

There are a few full length episodes on youtube.

Colletti, you should check out the video of him squeezing the juices from elephant shit and drinking it that I posted over in Gina's thread on Mike Rowe.

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/23/07 02:51 AM

There's no way that was a wild horse. No wild horse would let him get that close.

The show still rules though. One of my favorites was when he grabbed a small snake, bit the head off and spit it out, then ate the rest of the body raw, all in one motion.

This guy really is crazy when it comes to "surviving". I've seen interviews with him and even he admits that some of the stuff he eats doesn't sit well in his stomach and it comes back up. But if it were a true survival situation, that is the sort of thing you have to try in order to live.

The show where he bites into the belly of a live fish and eats it raw/live is pretty crazy as well. I predict he's the next guy to die "on the job" like the Crocodile Hunter.

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/23/07 02:54 AM

I remember when he ate the snake. The body was still moving and convulsing when he put it in his mouth.

I think what's crazier then the fish, is when he found a dead zebra, and tore right into the flesh, and began eating the meat, raw, right off the bone.

He's an ex-SAS man so he has to be a bit loopy!
When he drank the juice out of the shit....now that was pretty awful \:x

It's hilarious, even great, but surely you guys mean for all the wrong reasons, right?

Unless this guy doesn't actually take himself seriously, I think he's the biggest pile of phony bullshit ever.

That jump into the icy lake is brilliant. It has me literally creased whenever I watch it. As if!

What about when he finds a dead sheep and chooses to cook some of its body and eye ball in boiling hot water from a volcano?

That's basically what I get from the show. I've just been "praising" him in something of a satirical way.

The man honestly is crazy. And I still contest he makes 007 look like a pussy.

While doing the TV Listings for August, I noticed that your buddy Bear is gonna be on Jimmy Kimmel on Monday 8/6 (apparently a repeat of the 7/13 show)

What channel is he on and when?

Here I was thinking I didn't have to look it up cuz I'm lazy...

The site says he's on 12:05AM / 11:05C on ABC

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/29/07 07:29 PM

JG, why do you do TV listings? What are you looking for, showings of The Godfather or anything Mafia related?

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/29/07 07:35 PM

Why do I do TV Listings? It's a free public service that I thought people here (at least in the USA) would find handy. \:p If you go there you'll see the kinds of listings I post... ;\)

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/29/07 07:55 PM

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's very useful. I'd definitely use it if I were living over there. Good idea. Perhaps I should do the same for every film over here, for the FCM boards...

Nah. \:p

Yeah, I read about that. I'll post the article later.

Really, I don't think it matters; he still does everything we see him doing on the show.

I heard that too. But the elephant dung found in the five star hotels can't compare to the elephant dung found in the jungle.

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/31/07 06:33 PM

You know, I think this whole hotel thing just makes him look even crazier. I recall an episode where he was shown cutting open a dead dear, and then crawling inside of it to sleep in it as to protect himself from an incoming wind storm. But now, all I can think is, "why in the hell didn't he just go to a hotel that night?"
Posted By: ap_capone48101

Re: Bear Grylls - 07/31/07 07:54 PM

I dont care where he sleeps at night. The point of the show is to show you tips if you get stranded in a place like him. I know most people cant go half of what he does but he is at least showing what you could do to help get you out of a place.

And even if he does go to a hotel, he still shows you how to make some kind of tent for the night.
