NBA season is underway - 10/18/04 12:19 AM

Well, it is soon. Any news or anything to report? Post it here!

Some pre-season notes:

The Hawks lost Chris Crawford (PF) for the year today with a torn ACL.

Iverson was ejected from a game against Toronto for arguing with the ref, but it hasn't stopped Philly's 3-0 pre-season thus far.

Yao Ming and the Rockets played the final of 2 games in China this past week.

I have no faith whatsoever in my hometeam, the Washington Wizards. They were nearly beaten by the Charlotte Bobcats in double overtime in their home debut. That dissapoints me... really.

Houston is looking pretty good.. interesting series against Sacramento. The Lakers will probably take several games to get adjusted to the new changes.. The Pistons will probably still be pretty high up if Larry Brown can keep up his defensive coordination.

Plenty of upcoming preseason games...

I haven't really been following the pre-season so far. When the 31st comes, then I'll be all about basketball, but right now it's still baseball season for me. How are my Knicks looking? What about the Lakers? I don't think they're that terrible so far from what I've heard. Anyone plan on getting Phil Jackson's new book? It sounds pretty interesting to me.

All I can say is the Heat are looking pretty good after their first two games with Shaq having limited playing time. They are definitely going to contend this year. D Wade is a playa fo real.

The Lakers aren't shot to hell yet (not that I think they ever will be, but a lot of people do), so that's a good sign. They're 4-4 now. Not great, but not hopeless. I think they can improve. Besides, they're still getting a feel for it, learning how to be a team, etc. I think they'll get the hang of it.

I think they'll beat the Clippers on Wednesday. Sacramento will be an interesting game next weekend... I think they'll win that, too. I'm going to try to go to both. I've never been to a lost game... maybe I'm good luck! I should get season tickets.

I can't believe how bad Denver is so far. They're only 2-5 & 2 of those losses are to the Jazz. What is going on here??

Ginobili is doing good. Last i saw he had a 21.0 ppg. Can you say all star potential?

Ah, it's only 7 games into the season. Let's wait until February until we don him with the title "all-star"

Re: NBA season is underway - 11/16/04 03:14 AM

hes already proved he has all-star potential. he was on the All Star ballot last year, and received (I believe) half a million votes. He led his team to Gold in the Olympics and has a ring from playing with the Spurs. And hes only been in the NBA for 3 years. Thats quite an accomplishment.

Itll be difficult. Kobe and Tmac will be voted into the starter spots, regardless of how they play. Ray Allen, Steve Nash, and Baron Davis all are better players. I wouldnt expect Cassel to stay quiet long either

Re: NBA season is underway - 11/16/04 04:02 AM

Well through 6 games, LeBron James is averaging almost 28 ppg, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 6 assists. Let's just give him the MVP trophy now, right?

actually i wouldnt expect his numbers to drop much. Id guess 26-6-6 at the end of the season. Its really quite difficult for me to see anyone but Duncan or KG getting it though. Theyll both be mid 20s in scoring, lowteens in boards, elite defenders, and they are on top 5 teams

Of course he's doing good... I think he's one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Looks like that's going to change, though. I wish he'd play for L.A., at some point, but I doubt that will ever happen. In Athens, was he awesome or what? Gotta love Argentinean teamwork, though, in any sport.

Re: NBA season is underway - 11/16/04 09:56 PM

Manu is not underrated. Commentators are all over him every game. People are projecting him an allstar. Seems to me when everyone is saying a player deserves that, when he doesnt as of now (like i said earlier, he needs to perform better then Kobe, Tmac, Ray, Baron, or Nash to be an allstar), that hes closer to overrated. Rashard Lewis and Corey Maggette average more points and you never hear about them. They are underrated

I wonder if Cleveland's missing Boozer yet. Through 6 games he's averaging 19 ppg & 10 rebounds and his team is (amazingly) 6-1 with a win tonight against Charlotte.
