Jimmy Brown song - 03/09/18 06:56 PM

First time poster, long time lurker mostly in the OC-Real Life thread.

I've watched the Sopranos completely through more times than I'd like to admit. What recently caught my attention was the episode "Fleshy part of the thigh" when Tony is in negotiations to settle the Barone Sanitation company sale. When his son Jason is boating and Paulie pays him a visit the song "Jimmy Brown" is playing in the background. Has to be an ode to James Failla aka Jimmy Brown and the major force for the Gambinos in the cartage business? Anyone else catch that?

Thanks for that info!

I've watched the series a few times as well and still find new things or like in this case have people point out new details. Still the best show ever IMHO.

Great observation.

That episode always left me feeling uncomfortable lol. I felt bad for Paulie's 'mom' the way he treated her in some of those scenes. Paulie had a right to be upset about being lied to all those years but come on she is still an old lady.

That creepy preacher who visits tony in the hospital... the old man in the hospital. Just creepiness all around in that episode.

The first verse of the song (The Three Bells)is playing when Jason Barone is on screen. It talks about a baby (Jimmy Brown) being born. Barone being the baby after his father's death. The song's second verse is played in another episode when Vtio runs away to that small town. The second verse talks about Jimmy falling in love. Vito is running after his sexual preferences are made public.
