A What If....Tony Goes to Trial

A What If....Tony Goes to Trial - 05/03/14 09:56 PM

Say by some chance Tony survives his night at the diner and Carlo goes through testifying to save his son. How much time will Tony be looking at once he goes to trial? What charges can possibly be thrown his way? If Carlo can verify Ray Curto's and Eugene's recordings, then Tony is screwed beyond belief.

As a contemporary of Tony's, Johnny Sac was head of a family, and he went to the poorhouse with his trial even with 6 Mill in the bank.

Tony doesn't have that judging by the last episode, not by a long shot.

So does Tony beat the case, get 30 to life, or cooperate.

I think that was the whole purpose of the ambiguous ending. Tony probably died as a result of his life's choices. But if he lived, his life was never going to be stress free.

Now I've always been in the camp that believes that he died at the diner. But if he lived, there's no way he could have avoided jail. Not with Carlo testifying.

Either way, David Chase gave us a "crime-doesn't-pay" moralistic ending.

Oh, I believe he certainly was killed at the diner, but even if he avoided that particular fate, his time as Boss ultimately was up as that has been alluded throughout the series. "Everything comes to an end".

I just always wondered how he'd react to facing a life sentence, would he honor Omerta or pull a Henry Hill.

A lot of sentimentalists would say no. But in real life they said the same thing about guys like Joe Massino.

In this day and age, nothing would shock me. Plus, it's just a tv show lol.

Only hope is that he gets a better court artist than Uncle Junior did.

"Fucking farter for cartoonists now".

Tony "sends a message" to Carlo by "visiting" one of his kids

Tony NEVER goes to trial

With Carlo's testimony that could get tony on a RICO charge. Tony had Carlo in charge of the docks and after that Carlo was put in charge of construction. With Carlo's knowledge of crime at the docks and in construction, this would almost assuredly produce some kind of RICO or racketeering case that could get Tony 10 or 20 years. But Tony is smart and probably pleads guilty instead of going to trial. I bet he would get a sentence that wouldn't be too horribly, like 10 years or so.

Carlo could probably corroborate with the wiretaps of Eugene Pontecorvo, Ray Curto, and Big Pussy at the very minimum.
