I never heard that and I don't know where you've heard it but it doesn't sound likely Tarantino would have ever been considered for Part III. Especially in 1990 when he wasn't even known to anyone.

I think the problem all along was Paramount Pictures. They almost screwed the first one all up, then they wanted to go cheap on Part III.

Part III wasn't the best, but a chef can only cook with the ingredients they have. Not having the budget for Duvall hurt more than anything.

YEAH, Tarantino.....it would have been more like Pulp Fiction----but in 1990 he was still an unknown...

Whille the first two GF's were very successfull why didn't the exec's at Paramount not give FFC a bigger budget?

I can't believe someone said Tarantino was nearly Director of GF3, a mean in 1990 QT wouldn't have been long finished workin on the Dolph Lundgren work out video, oh yes. The guy hadn't even made Reservoir Dogs at the time.

Wow, I never knew Tarantino was going to direct GF3!! I think he defintely would have made a mess of things. He should stick to his Kill Bill movies (which I liked) but as director of a GF film? Or any other film that doesn't have Lucy Liu and Uma Thurman sword fighting? I think not.

Re: Close call....or not - 09/09/04 05:33 PM

though i think tarantino is a great director, he would not be able to handle the godfather part 3. and obviously because he would turn it into a bit bloodthirsty movie. and the godfather trilogy was always about something other then violence. while there are plenty of violent scenes, the movie was always more about the family issues that mike and vito had to go through. i mean would we really want to see all of the corleone botton men dressed in black suits a la pulp fiction and reservoir dogs. would you really want mike talking to kay during their lunch in sicily about pop culture. mike- you know im fucking glad disco is fucking dying. those motherfuckers killing our airwaves with that motherfucking shit.
kay- fucking a.

just doesnt sound like them
