The Passing of Jewels

We talked about this a little bit in the "Legitimate" thread. Ever since then it has been really bugging me. What is the deal with passing the jewels around on the plate at the commission meeting in GFIII? It is so corny and doesn't seem to fit. Why would FFC put that in the scene?

Old age caught up and overtook FFC's genius. That movie was full of such corny stuff

It was a coming-out party for Michael. They wanted to play dress up and have a drag show.

I think the whole movie is 'corny', but most of the 'stuff' is probably pretty accurate. I don't believe that FFC put much inadvertant material in these 2&1/2 GF movies.

Passing of the jewels definetly sounds like something from the old Roman days. These guys absolutely worship relics and the old ways of life.
