in Part 2, at mama Corleone's funeral. when Mikey is hugging Fredo, the look he throws Al Neri is what i think it is right?Neri Knew? is that why he looked down?

and i was wondering also in part 2, where Fredo shows up with the money and hes all jittery, he goes to shake the bodyguards hand, the bodyguard seems reluctant, i probably know why, but id like to hear it from someone else.

thanks for your time, and yeah, i know my questions are lame.

When Michael walks through the room, up to Fredo and hugs him, the camera showing Fredo desperatley clutching Michaels back, and then Michael gives Al Neri that cold classic Pacino stare, signaling Fredo's fate in a glance. Also the musical score is a perfect accompanyment to the scene. This for me, is a classic Godfather moment.
Yeah its a great scene.

Capo,

The "look" is a little spooky - the Michael Stare. It does make you wonder if Michael had a sit-down with Neri and laid out the plan. 'When my mother dies, take him fishin', and only you come back.' He did say that he didn't want anything to happen while his mother was alive. That also makes you think that the plan had been in place for awhile.

Regarding the reluctant handshake by Buscetta. That always struck me as a little odd. There must be somekind of bodyguard protocol or Michael gave him strict orders not to shake anyone's hand without his OK.

I agree, MC: Probably Buscetta had strict orders not to let anything--not even an exchange of pleasantries--interfere with the job of maintaining 100% vigilance on Michael. He was to be alert for possible treachery at all times. Only when Michael put his stamp of approval on Fredo by saying to Buscetta, "mi frate," did Buscetta get permission to shake Freddy's hand.
A man of iron discipline, Buscetta. But he has one comic moment: At the beginning of the Roth birthday party scene, a bird sh**s on his hat. Check it out. cool

Omigosh, I know the moment, but I never picked up on it being a bird shot. I always thought he was checking out the angle of the sun and since he was wearing black, he wanted to position himself in less direct angle. Now I'll have to pop in the DVD. rolleyes
