mine might have had the normal price-tag on it, but it came off nice. so I guess it's the type of "glue" and not the fabric the box is made of confused confused

I was afraid it would rip the box so I left it on, and you are right it does suck.

Mine doesn't have any ads or price tags fortunately. I bought it on line, if that makes a difference. I don't blame you tho, that would make me mad as well. ohwell

Yeah, I tore it off, but it left 2 glue strips, one above, and one below the GF logo. Tried to wash them off, but they wouldn't mad mad mad

I got the box set two years ago, and yes, it did come with that damn sticker on the back. I chose not to mess with out of fear that it would leave a sticky mess on the box. I'm kinda glad that I chose not to take it off, but it really sucks that the box just HAD to have that sticker. I guess Pherdy and TIS are the lucky ones.

Pain in the ass, isn't it? You buy Paramount's highest-prestige film collection on DVD, pay a hefty price, and they stick an ad on it. mad I suppose some day, one of us will save up to buy a Rolex watch--and find an AOL CD-ROM stuck on the back.

Yeah, the sticker was on it the first day it came out. I guess I was lucky, I peeled it off and it came off clean. I dont see why that sticker was neccessary.

it really does suck... because as great a movie collection this is, corporations are always thinking about making more $$.

i was looking at the annoying sticker on my godfather boxset again today and so i tryed to slowly peel it off (for the second time) leaving as little glue residue as i could. after i had removed the paper completly i rubbed the glue smudge in a sirculur motion untill it rolled up into big globs that i could then peel off. this proccess took me a total of one hour and eighteen minutes, but anyway I GOT IT OFF!! thats right, it IS possible, i suggest you people try the same, it makes it look as good as new. good luck!

who else thinks the three movies will one day be released as small Special Edition's separately, and the trilogy in chronological order will be a futue dvd-set too? I am almost sure

if they do it like Lord of the Rings, they'll leave out the extra's from the Collection and add new stuff, so that even us faithfull fans will buy it again

i hope they dont do that. it was expensive enough to buy the first one, and the special features on the current set are good enough for me.

I'm not sure about that, but I know for a fact that the Godfather trilogy is being re-released in the UK as 3 seperate films. What that is about, I'll never know, but it does seem strange.

YEAH! Tonight i did the same thing, i peeled off the ad slowly, it left two batches of glue residue, so then i got some eye make up remover from my sister, and it helped me smudge the glue off easier. then because i used the eye make up remover, it made the parts a little liter, so then i got some black shoe polish (no kidding) put some on and buffed it with a cloth. i did it to both sides of the dvd set, MAKES IT NICE AND SHINY, NO JOKE I SWEAR. just use regular shoe polish that you have to buff. NOW MY COLLECTION LOOKS SOO NICE!!! it looks so nice, that i changed its position and put it on top of my stereo along with scarface dvd. !!!

Re: Sticky Ad On Back Of Boxset - 10/28/03 01:34 AM

since i'm a graphic artist, i use rubber cement, which is the same crap they use to stick the ad on the box.

Well, one simple solution is using rubber cement remover. I also had trouble taking the glue off, and there was a lot of it left. I tired rrubbing it off, but it just smeared the cement all over, so I got some Bestine Solvent and Thinner. I lightly dabbed it on the glue, came right off

don't rub, just dab the solvent, and it'll come out, no color fades, no nothing.

Bestine solvent and thinner. Most art stores sell it.

That should help for everyone

Mine had the add on it, but i got it off fine. The glue wasn't that strong.
